These photos are from the completely stock R Spec with 30,000 klm on the clock. Ford are going to be really pissed that they didn't just replace it. What a joke. A joke of a company - A joke for quality - A joke for warranty. Apparently its quite common across the whole range from the BA onwards. Ford Australia :f*ckyou:

That's just so bad.

I've seen photos of twisted driveshafts (including mine) after too much dragstrip spoolup, but that is something different.

Looks like a fairly clean break rather than a twist and snap.

This car is bog stock and has never even spun the wheels intentionally, never done a track day, driven like a toyota camry. Just a faulty product with Ford in 1000% denial that it is so *beep* em they can face court and a certain current events program who are presently looking into how common this is.

It goes to show how much they care about customers once they have their money - WANKERS

Bought 2 of them (R Specs) at the same time. Mine is highly modified and if it had happened to my car I would wear it. This is a rather allbeit dangerous and obvious manufacturing fault and Ford have obviously figured out it is cheaper to fight in court than to do a re call. Some foreman at Metro Ford in Brisbane decided it was caused by abuse and Ford wouldn't even send a rep to look at it, they just went into complete denial so it went to consumer affairs who said they had seen quite a few of these instances. Now on principle they will face the wrath of the legal and PR assault of my rather wealthly and very pissed off business partner. Their attitude over this has been unbeleivable, no more Fords in our company or families.

Yes its a weird one alright Brian. It is Fords attitude that amazes me, if it was modified or a flood car or had been a t the dragstrip or racedays, or done 200,000klm I could understand their attitude. But 6 months out of warranty with only 30,000klm on a stock car is incredible. Typical Ford Motor Company 1 step up and 2 steps back.

Here's an old picture of mine when it twisted.

It did not break. That was after about 50 passes and around 400rwkw, and only happened when I stalled it up too long.

I don't know if Ford understands what abuse means, but stock torque should not cause such a break that you have.

I'd say that it is clearly a defect, and could have had dangerous consequences if it happened when you were doing something like overtaking.

I would have expected any safety conscious company to examine such a defect. For a non-expert to dismiss such a case to avoid paying is missing the point.

I would expect any out of warranty issue to be addressed seriously.

The fact that you have been a loyal and excellent customer should warrant extra attention, and you would get better attention dealing with people at a higher level of responsibility, where a more appropriate business commonsense decision can be made.

Good luck.

(Time to get a GTR)

yep, one look at those pics and it's easy to see that it didn't fail due to excessive torque.

Bloody thin innit, looks like a bit of bog roll tube
