hey everyone, I realise this is a very common thread title but what I am curious about is how easy is it to upgrade the speakers and amplifiers with aftermarket gear while still using the stock head unit. what I would like to do is amp the front and rear speakers and a sub in the back on another amp. no speakers would be powered off the stock head unit.

I want the crisp aftermarket sound but I really dont like the look and placement of aftermarket head units into the B series dash. I also want to keep the steering controls as a result :)

thanks in advance

B series cars dont have RCA outputs on the head unit, so using a line level converter to transform the speaker signal to RCA is the way to go, something like the audiocontrol LC2i so that it boosts the input voltage signal to match the gain level on the amp, it converts one pair of speaker inputs into two pairs of RCA's, one for bass output and another for full range amp to run your front & rears. I have one of these running a blaupunkt burning desire subwoofer amp with a JL Audio 10w6v2 sub. Im still yet to put the kenwood amp in for a pair of splits.

Hey guys,

Anyone usin one of these bad boys?

http://www.audiocontrol.com/14162/products/EQX-Trunk-Mount-Equalizer-with-Crossover.html

I am thinking of doing this little upgrade myself though I have been quoted 1450bux to have it done by an Audio shop.

Inc. new kicker speakers to replace the premium sound speakers.. 6 all up as the sub and amp is already done.

The line converter, new amp, replace cables and then dynamat the front doors and boot. Is 1450 a good price for all this?
