Everything is gone unfortunately, otherwise I'd probably stick with canon. It was all nicely packed in an easy to carry bag.

The 55-250 lens was good but the 18-55 is crap

Ah nice sideways, I'd like a decent underwater camera. They're pretty cheap imo n great in summer.

No good dule..people that work hard to buy this stuff and one little *beep* comes along and steals it. My old mans got a Nikon similar to mine, Nikon D90 I think it is. He's impressed with it and always been a Nikon fan - even when they were using film..still has the ancient brick :roflmbo:

I was gonna say if you still had your lenses stick with what could use those. But yeah I had the same problem with a laptop and a bunch of computer gear.. I kept it all packed in an easy to takeaway bag for an opportunistic arsehole.

Nikon or Canon will both do a good job.

I'd suggest going to a store and having a feel of the model you're looking at and then do the same with the Canon model in the same price bracket. You might find you prefer the feel of one over the other or like the controls layout better on one.

That's why I'm leaning towards the Nikon I find they have a better feel although Canon does have a better button and menu layout, but having used a borrowed Nikon on a recent trip you get used to the slightly weird layout. Any recommendations on an alternative to the Nikon 18-105 lens?

Thanks mate! :spoton: Will do, just having the one lens at the moment restricts me but I'm fine with it for now, definitely get the other before summer holidays on the coast down here!

Got a phonecall back from the camera club down here and they meet twice a month with competitions on the last meet of each month. Sounds like a great club with heaps of knowledge, the guy I spoke to said he's been in the club for 26yrs! :O http://www.coriobaycameraclub.org.au/

But these guys located closer to me so may go there; http://geelongcameraclub.org.au/

Will turn up to them next week and see how I go! :)

Im going into town today after a tripod. What ones are good to get, ive read up a little and the carbon fibre ones are great?

Also flash..for the night car shots do you guys use them, or just rely on the lights around the bolte etc? Or what do you use? Cheers! :)

Carbon fibre are great. They're light, tough and also super expensive! I'd stick with an aluminium tripod unless you plan on carrying it long distances. Get the best one you can afford. There's no such thing as a good, cheap tripod.
