I'm in the market for a new camera but dont really know which one to go for. Any thought on the EOS 550d? Are there better DSLR's for the same price?

I picked up a brand new 600d with 3 lenses for <$1000, all cheap lenses but for me it was a good starter kit. I really don't know what it has over the 550d but I thought if I sell in a few years the newer model might be worth $50 more. Problem is it's addictive, I'm getting a macro lens and really want a bird lens, but that would mean selling a kidney.

Yeah not much difference at all between them in terms of mechanics and shooting perfirmance.

Also here's some pics I took on Saturday night at the Garage Cafe meet..hope they're not too bad, tell me what you think, good..bad, I take it all constructively :):spoton:

None are edited..sticking with just taking photos and getting them right first before attempting editing lol

were you playing around a lot to try to see what works best shy? looks like a lot of pics with the the same subject and less/more exposure. Nice clear shots too, you like the new lens?

My macro and cheap ring flash turned up yesterday

yeah ring flash catchlights = evil spiders but also really slow shutter speeds, or low aperature or high iso. That pic was 1/200 f4 and iso 800 = tiny DOF = 5% keeper rate

Ended up getting the cheap ebay speedlite to work with the camera so now I'll make a snoot for it. Hoping for 1/200 f10 and iso 400 with the same keeper rate + clearer pics and more dof
