that's right trent, can be done in pitch darkness with the correct aperture.

have a look at the second one craig, he explains exactly what he did to get that result, really interesting.

one day I will go to iceland/norway/finland etc and view the northern lights. read about it a few months ago, just the cool factor and only seen in one part of the world not everywhere, never ever the same is what gets me.

just formatting my sd cards, then off to take my first pics with the 10-20. will put some comparison pics up against my 18-105.

im also contemplating building a light rig or buying a few strobes cant decide hmmmmm

What do you mean by light rig?

The advantage of strobes is power. Disadvantage is size, cost and portability.

Really depends on your intended purpose.
