and to give you an idea shy. this photo was taken on a complete pitch black night. no light anywhere. had to use a phone light to see where to walk.

nah no light behind me at all. pitch black. only the street lights in the background.

and nah dont bother with a remote, just use the timer. costs you nothing, and saves you buying something not needed.

yeh realised today its probably cos the ISO was at 6400 for those shots. yeh got lightroom yesterday but its a bit harder to get the head around than photoshop..

Lightroom is pretty much all I use. I love it. I rarely use Photoshop. I enjoy taking photos. I can't stand editing!

Shy do you have a tripod and remote?

Ultimately the ISO killed you, I rarely if ever leave mine on auto at night.

Why the large aperture?

Tripod is a must. You can get by without a remote. Just use the 2 second timer so the shutter fires after you push the button.

Where was the aperture mentioned? Large apertures are the low numbers, such as f/2.8 etc and the small apertures are the high numbers, such as f/22.

and no never ever use a flash worst.

Flash can be used very effectively. ON camera flash is considered bad, but off camera flash can give amazing results.

yer adam ON camera flash is what im meant to say is bad.

I take photos with only what I have in the surroundings. im sure using off camera flashes work good but im into using what I got in photos.

The problem is that if the light sucks then the light just sucks. Nothing that camera will do will fix that.

Street lights or car park lights are never going to give you the quality of light you need for the shot to look good. Remember, it's about the quality of the light. Not the quantity of the light.

Daylight photography is a good place to start learning and experimenting.

got the tripod u linked me adam, great buy! $100 cheaper than camerahouse and they didnt even include a bag haha

experimenting, definitely know what that word is, I got lots to do! hahaha

that's it shy just keep taking pics, put them up here and we discuss it. easy and you get feedback.

I know what you mean adam, but I just like to use what there is, like the second pic I put up has no light at all. and its still cool.

the first pic, was taken for a complete disregard for getting the perfect angle or having the right light, we just took the photo. lol.
