My old mans got a Nikon similar to mine, Nikon D90 I think it is. But yeah I had the same problem with a laptop and a bunch of computer gear.. I kept it all packed in an easy to takeaway bag for an opportunistic arsehole. Will do, just having the one lens at the moment restricts me but I'm fine with it for now, definitely get the other before summer holidays on the coast down here!Got a phonecall back from the camera club down here and they meet twice a month with competitions on the last meet of each month. Sounds like a great club with heaps of knowledge, the guy I spoke to said he's been in the club for 26yrs! :O http://www.coriobaycameraclub.org.au/But these guys located closer to me so may go there; http://geelongcameraclub.org.au/Will turn up to them next week and see how I go! They're light, tough and also super expensive! I'd stick with an aluminium tripod unless you plan on carrying it long distances. Get the best one you can afford.
