A friend has offered me his SCT x3 for $150, he had a bf2 turbo as do I, just wondering is it worth it or should I buy new. I realize it needs to be sent to capa for reprogramming ect (haven't looked into it too much ie. cost wize) and yes I am only after a generic tune at the minute.

$150 sounds very cheap for a second hand xcal 3, are you sure it is not an xcal 2? Also generic tunes can be dangerous as they are not specifically tailored to your car. If you are not going to get a custom tune you will be better off keeping it standard.

yes xcal3, he sold up and bought a forbie, hence no need for it, just wondering the process and price of getting it running for me and mine.

As far as I know it has to go to herrods, then sent to usa, and herrods will tell you its not worth it buy a new one. I have mixed thoughts on why they say that.

Make sure his car was flashed back to the factory tune before he got rid of it otherwise it's worthless, only takes a couple of days to have it reset it needs to go to Melbourne from memory and less than $200.....
