That a tuner may or may not of lifted your head .... HAs lifted this head and has had a gut full of B/S and being best part raped by the bills being handed out for now a damaged vehicle This car will be tuned into the mid 20's no worries once fixed A car is only "overboosting" if its producing boost past it's target amount a port job is an integral part of maintaining the target boost and is a VERY fine line how far the port needs to go to meet this fine line target Thread needs more more more
Skids4kids in the mid....not the bum like some Member 609 Member For: 11y 6m 13d Gender: Male Posted 26/08/15 09:17 AM Share Posted 26/08/15 09:17 AM Is the boost valve being used to control boost in the tune at all Jarrad? If it is then the cooler will be trying to cool more than what's entering the motor so if its leaking say 2-3psi to get the target boost number then the target boost number is going to carry hotter air than what it would had it had control at the turbine.I know Nizpro advertise it as a way to control boost but its only fixing the issue not the cause. BenDoCo I'm getten too old for this s**t Bronze Donating Members 4,509 Member For: 11y 6m 30d Gender: Male Location: A big bridge over a river in South Australia Posted 26/08/15 09:33 AM Share Posted 26/08/15 09:33 AM (edited) That bit about cause and issue is exactly what John at Herrods mentioned to me when I asked his opinion on them - he said something along the lines of..... you should never need one unless you're pushing huge psi...... I think I'm remembering correctly *ishAlso -- could it have anything to do with the cooler being too big? I remember reading something about probs caused by a huge cooler somewhere Edited 26/08/15 09:35 AM by BenDoCo

Awesome bit o' kit. Both ripped6 and Bizkarnt have his awesome 'big' cooler fitted and he's building me a (shall we call it - v2.0) stepped cooler atm Edited 26/08/15 01:07 PM by BenDoCo
ripped6 Donating Members 246 Member For: 13y 3m 4d Gender: Male Posted 26/08/15 01:28 PM Share Posted 26/08/15 01:28 PM nah karl, its not being used to control boost, it was set slightly above the peak boost figure made on my previous dyno tune (peaked at 21psi). I've only ever heard it release on 3 occasions, all on cold nights when I was giving it a hiding and 2/3 times it was on a gear change and I thought my input shaft went lol. Since having a new exhaust housing and actuator fitted and then retuned (peak boost 20psi) to match the second 044, reg and larger intercooler I have not heard it pop however the valve was not readjusted. I've also had no issues with the headlifting since that one night albeit I haven't flogged it to quite that extent since. TBH im not that stressed about it as I rarely flog it anymore. I will take it back to Simon and get him to adjust the valve whilst we check the boost figures on the dyno. If it is spiking on the dyno then I guess we'll have to look at why and if it's not spiking but the head is showing signs of lift again then I guess I will just replace the bolts as necessary. Yep love my Jonny Tig cooler, the more I push the car the colder that cold side pipe gets! At the last drags it was damn near frozen. If only you could see its awesomeness behind my stupid mk2 front bar :(
