Just in case people don't see it in their Tapafark feeds, I've opened a thread to list all of the Facesux (and other) car events that are being held each weekend in Adelaide and surrounds these days......That way, they're all in one place and easy for everyone to see.

If the car is overboosting then it would be better off having it retuned bloke.

from what I have been told boost control is pretty much 'out the window' when still using the standard sized rear housing (obviously its been ported etc) but running a full 4in exhaust and well flowing intake/intercooler. I was told that decreasing the size of the exhaust, using an external gate or upgrading to a larger turbo should stop it overboosting. it appears to only do it in cold weather.

Another person with a bad port job.....one shop in SA is telling people they need external as a larger internal port want always control boost with a 4" dump pipe....yes that's correct you need external gate PMSL!

Did AMMRR tell you this?

I got some overboost last night on gear change and I know I did because I HAVE A BOOST GAUGE.............hehehe

Hit the recall on the gauge this morning to see what it maxed at - following the tuners instructions to report anything weird to him.

I had the 20 (& a bit) psi tune in and have the warning light set to 22psi and it maxed at 23psi.

Gotta be happy with that ay!

Jet

512 distance to empty this time and that includes A LOT of playing on Friday night with John & his VL (again lol)

Loving the fuel economy

Cheers Rab

Tell me when to make the booking

Brad

No Probs......ring once she's home if ya gunna come out. Trish is gunna text me the maps each night from now on

The weather will be warming up over the next cupla weeks so we might have to organise a Pub drive for food.

Who can recommend a decent pub meal? Or even BBQ/Park area to make it kid friendly????

From the little I've learnt, I have to agree with the boys above

Even before reading their posts, my first thought was the Actuator is probably giving up or port jobby isn't working properly so I'm pretty proud of myself over here I am. :)

I can't remember what actuator is fitted to your car........hopefully not Garrett :)

Didn't that cool bloke ( ;) ) do the port on a new housing from Sonic? or am I thinking of someone else

I'm still not 'quite' sure IF Bretts mainline does read high or not but that's besides the point and doesn't matter here. My point is - why not go back and have a chat with him.........coz -- look at what he's done for my car

That's incorrect

It actually means you have a lazy port job and or actuator

Just sayn

brand new ported exhaust housing and actuator about 5,000kms old. previous exhaust housing was done by nizpro and I had the same issues.

Another person with a bad port job.....one shop in SA is telling people they need external as a larger internal port want always control boost with a 4" dump pipe....yes that's correct you need external gate PMSL!

Did AMMRR tell you this?

yeah it was ammrr who mentioned this and it also may have been the guy who supplied the new exhaust housing but I would have to ask jon as he sorted it out for me

I think its an 8psi actuator, not sure what brand though?? previously used a 12lb actuator and had overboost issues. I think the turbo just likes 22+psi lol.

Bretts dyno definitely reads high, not that that matters but I guess I could give him a call and have a chat with him. it appears by the job he's done on your car that he's ironed out a few bugs he was encountering when tuning mine 3 years back.

The first tune they did on my car was a bit 'all over the place' as Jet will confirm but after my ECU bricked itself and he got onto Rob Herrod, all the graphs look excellent on the final tunes.

He showed me the timing graphs but I didn't take pics of it coz .......well I'm not really sure why I didn't actually.

He had sent the tune file to Rob to check to see if that was the reason why the ECU bricked and you can bet your arse that Rob pointed him in the right direction with some of the maps etc.

High Rollers Saturday night so we can chat more yeah ---- or are you busy?

brett did some really good tunes on my first FG and it felt like a rocket but for some reason when he tuned my new one it just didn't feel powerful and had a few other niggles. I think I will end up taking mine back to simon to sort out as im sick of shelling out money on the car when it should just work. I will probly come out to high rollers cruise but I wont stay for the entire cruise as im not a big fan of the freezing weather, come summer it will be a different story. will try and find ya there if there's not a pre-meet
