Gazzanats South Australia

PRESS RELEASE

It is with the deepest regret that we announce we will no longer be running Gazzanats South Australia.

We have been taken by surprise with position we are now in, and find ourselves emotionally and mentally drained and feel our spirits are broken; we have worked so hard over so many years to achieve the success we’ve seen with the Gazzanats SA brand, it was our first event as promoters and we considered it the birth of Gazzanats, it was our baby.

Those involved with our event and us personally will fully understand the impact of this decision and how incredibly difficult it has been for us to make the choice to cancel the event.

Due to a failure by Adelaide International Raceway Management to support our requirements for a successful show, we are no longer able to stage Gazzanats SA to the standard we have upheld for the past 7 years and had hoped to continue doing for many years into the future.

The restrictions being placed on the staging of the event are unfeasible and rigid. We are not prepared to sacrifice the quality of the event we offer, either to ourselves, our Entrants & Spectators. Over the last 7 years we have developed a well proven formula for staging a successful show and we would prefer to end our association with Adelaide International Raceway and retain our pride, as opposed to entering into a contract we believe offers less than we, our Entrants and Spectators deserve.

As Drag Racing has now returned to AIR after ten years, we are being advised that we can no longer stage any driving events on three quarters of the drag strip. As previously stated, this is unreasonable and restricts our ability to stage a professional, successful event as per the last 7 years.

In conclusion, we wish we had been able to attain a satisfactory working relationship with RINO, from Race on Promotions, in unison with their Drag Racing events, however this has been proven impossible.

We thank all our Entrants, nationwide, our sponsors, fans and especially our dedicated Gazzanats Team for all the support.

Gary & Deby Myers.

Bloody pathetic how they can't have events like this cause the AIR is open now, they should think how much $$$ goes back into the South Australian ecomony.

There was an interesting rebuttal on facebook from Andrew Russo (AIR Manager):

Hi All,

Before anyone continues to accuse or blame Rino or Racing Onn Promotions please be advised they had no part in the cancellation of Gazzanats at AIR. Unfortunately people are being misinformed by the Promoters of the event; badmouthing & slandering the incorrect people with false details towards those who I ...know for a fact did everything they could to make this work for both events.

The Promoters of Gazzanats were given every opportunity to continue to hold their event and retain their 7 year relationship with AIR, so that all fans of motor sports, Gazzanats and drag racing in South Australia were all satisfied. Unfortunately they have decided to instead post their version of events, and I ask everyone to keep in mind this is simply one side of a story.

Instead of rushing to a conclusion remember we are all here for the one reason – We are a part of the South Australia Racing Community and want to continue to share, hold & participate in the best events right here!

Australian economy??? What about .sa????

Yes but 1 Gaza nats a year or a drag meet every month??????which do u rekon will provide more

A) entertainment

B)money back onto the economy as u put it

C) stop all of us loyal racing people from having to spend 2k a weekend to go over to vic to race and putting money into the vic economy instead of .sa

We still get malanats for burnouts and murray bridge.....

You can't have burnouts on a freshly laid 1/4 mile or it will I <3 Bananas it.

Eventually having maybe a weekly drag street meet will provide way more "money into the economy" that 1 time a year swell as all the small businesses that benefit from it such as the food supplied there, cost to get in, cost to race, plus people buying slicks , mods from .sa owned workshops such as Bruces, and other equipment that people will buy locally helping our economy not 1 a year with people buying cheap tyres off ebay and over seas.

For years ,Gazza and Deb would bring their own interstate crew and staff, hold a 2 day event at AIR and walk away for 12months. They paid Bob the knob the one off fee to keep his pockets just full enough so as to not need to do anything else with the place. In the mean time the place got more and more run down, and they’d make enough to keep em happy. So in turn they made $$$, Bob made $$$, a small percentage of SA’s population had a good couple days, but for the next 360 odd days of the year the rest of SA got jack sh*t from the facility or its owner!!

Its taken a local one man band, to put his nuts on the line, invest some of his own cash and come to an agreement with the new “owner” (Rod Jane) of AIR to provide us all with a couple events a month and the chance to participate at all levels, whether its grass roots street car , or group one drags cars, This way we all get a chance to get something out of it.

Support Rino guys!!!

Hahah completely agree... the myers crew are full on bogans who unfortunately some people choose to hold in high regard coz they rip fat skids.....

Everyone loves a good skid but its all a bit vn commodore for me when it comes to watching commodore bogans scream at them like chip foose just walked out onto the pad with a custom hot rod.

I never bothered to ever go to GazzaNats, so cant comment on the show... BUT I have been to Mallanats and it was bloody great.

As much as Mallala is also abit run down in terms of its buildings/sheds etc and in need of a freshen up, at least Clem has diverisfied and got the skid pan happening, runs drift meets, mallanats as well as normal circuit racing (which is what I do when im out there)..

Id much rather support a local venue like that than someone like bob/rodney jane.... Its just a pity that A.I.R is currently the only place in SA that can run 1/4mile drags, so Rino is sort of handtied to that place for now.

Lets hope that now that the EPA and Murray Bridge council have fully approved the building of the Cougar International Raceway out at Monarto, that that place gets happening and gives dragracers another 1/4mile option to A.I.R

Play nice jetstar u might hurt my feelings lol..... I have ups and downs excited about the new build and the prospect of chasings really quick quarter mile times but I look back on the last five years and the money, time, stress and effort that went into it and for it to all end without even enjoying it or getting to see even any of its potential is so disappointing. At three different stages I could have stopped and it still would have been one of the nicest/fastest BA's out there but it was never enough had to keep chasing the rabbit down the hole to speak. It didn't deserve to end up like it did.

But anyways it still tought Me to stop screwing around on the the street pull my head in and do it properly I couldn't distinguish the line between street car and race car. Now I'm running the right marathon.... 23rd of july booked in for an 8.0 certified cage hehe once the ball is rolling ill make sure it rolls Damn fast ;)...

Oh and yeah burnouts are gaaaaay unless your warming up your slicks or laying skids at powercruise or something.

yeh only stirring bit earlie maybe but iam the kind of guy who is asking the widow at the fuenral if shes keen for a bit now lol, look yeh your right u basically had a drag car in a street car shell and wow it had alot of potential to go real fast super quick and on the street bloody hell almost as bad as a motorbike its never really the riders fault just the clown that pulls out in front of him.

glad your positive mate as its the only way to be in these situations and hey white is faster lower drag coefficient apparently lol and look u got all the goodies just alot more labour and refinement but at least its chartered territory and u know where the bumps are in the road .

mr gagliardi doing it for ya jake or do u get up to spinning spannerz
