I had this wierd smell coming through the aircon for the past week. It smelt like some kind of burning. So I called Bruce and let him know and asked him "Bruce earlier last week my coolant pipe cracked and pissed coolant onto my bonnet mat, is the coolant heating up on the bonnet mat and making this wierd smell come through the aircon?"Bruce said most likely you will experience a coolant smell for awhile becuase it has saturated into the mat. So I was like no worries thanks. Then on Friday night I went to the movies and car was smelling bad still probably worse than normal but I thought it was the coolant and I was ok. But on the way home from movies I pulled up to a set of lights and felt the car not wanting to go into gear! It was so hard to get Into gear I had to miss the green light and wait for the next one!Once I got going I felt the car just not pulling like it should be and it smelt really bad and honestly was running like sh*t. So I pulled over straight away and when I stopped smoke was coming out the bonnet. I opened the bonnet and saw the smoke coming from the gearbox area or whatever that area is at the back of the engine and underneath it. Anyway dad came with a tow rope and before we left I tried to put it in gear and drive but it was really hard to get into gear and when I did get into gear the car wouldn't move at all. That was my awesome night out last weekend

Haydog09 Member 72 Member For: 12y 6m 8d Gender: Male Location: Adelaide Posted 12/06/12 08:17 AM Share Posted 12/06/12 08:17 AM It will go into any gear with a struggle. But once it's in first and you go to drive the revs go up as usual but the car wont go anywhere as you take your foot off the cluth to pull away

I suspect you may be burning your clutch out (as in it has had too much wear and has is now spinning freely) which would explain the smoke, not being able to effectively put it in gear and the car not moving when clutch is engaged. does the smoke you talk about have a sickly smell too it like burning brakes?
