HI all , sorry if this is a bit vague .

Anyone ever had the thread strip out of the diff housing at the big main bush? Apparently ford wont sell just the rear diff plate!! Only the whole center. Wreckers wont separate the housing. Does Anyone know where I might find one around the Gold coast Brisbane area? Used is OK. Is getting it heli-coiled a good option?

Hi mate heli-coil could be an option but a timesert would be better if you go down the route theirs no issue with repairing using these methods provided the guy who does it does it properly it is susposed to be stronger then new as the timersert is stronger metal.

So just look up timeserts you could even do it yourself if your handy.

A heli - coil is the best option as it will end up stronger as the heli coil is a larger thread in the cover and the bolt will then thread into steel

Heli-coil, Re-coil, there are a few options that require you to drill then tap an insert specific thread into which you screw in your new threaded insert then bobs ya uncle.

Hope you have enough space to hopefully do this in-situ..

Best of luck,

Called the mechanic again today, he wants to steer away from a heli-coil. He has sent for an engineer to have a look and quote it. He wants to strengthen it some how as tells me he thinks the car will break it again as it has a lot of power. Anyone ever heard that before?
