I got ATI because at the time, they were the better card. The 500 series had only just been released and were still expensive and the 400 series were hot, power hungry and only as powerful as the ATI's (so why waste power and pump heat through your case unnecessarily).

yer the HD4870's are what all my mates jumped onto. They were gettin some decent (at the time) 3DMark scores.

They were a massive leap forward for ATI as far as performance. At that time they had nVidia beat. that's why I swapped out my GTX385 for the 2x HD5870's when they were released.

But I think I have it all covered for now. I run bf3 (single screen) on ultra settings with SLI disabled.

multiple monitors..

Initially SLI would only work on a single monitor in a multimonitor setup(the second monitor would switch off).. Obviously NVIdia have upgraded this limitation to SLI only for 2 monitors.

Stainless is rich and has 3 dell high res 24" monitors.. So he plays the game with nvidia surround with 3 monitors.

Which screens does Stainless have? Are they U2410's?

I'd love to get three U3011's if I had the money...7680x1600 tri-monitor

yeh, the x1600 high screens.. Why would you buy a normal dell monitor if you didnt get the high res one??! :P

2x 2407WFP

1x 2408WFP with display port for when I was running eyefinity.

Got them when they were very I <3 Bananas expensive. Paid over $1400 for the first one :-/

Waitin for some decent resolution 120hz monitors for 3d.

I disabled sli in attempt to stop bf3 crashing. Have pretty much tried every single thing ive read and still crashed.

For the reckord Danny you have to have sli enabled to run vision surround. But it shows one desktop as wide as all 3 monitors.

You cant have sli enabled if you want to extend your desktop over 3 screens ie 3 desktops.

Edit

My screens are 1920x1200

The 27" and 30" are higher resolutions.

Yes I understand that ,I was also running vision suround until BF3(worked in the beta for me). But now have SLI enabled using my single 27" lcd

was wondering why not enable sli when only using one monitor.

I was running my 27 + 2x 23's in surround, luckily with out knowing at the time they were all 1920x1080 res and worked ok exept for the bezel adjustment being a bit off.

Sli disabled to try stop the crashing. Also because I use 3 monitors for work stuff (porn).

Bf3 runs fine with the one card so until they fix surround then really cbf turning sli on and off all the time.

Edit

I think im confusing people.
