hey guys I am doing a conversion on my ute and im putting in the 4.0 L motor and basically everything out of the falcon!

I just want to know the difference between ba - fg series, as I am not going for the turbo motor ( due to crazy conversion price) I wanted to know which would be better out of the n/a xr6 models? and which one would work better if I turboed in the future?? also...

are the new 6 speed auto box's compatable with say...a bf series n/a xr6 motor?

do the n/a fg, bf xr6 motors use the typhoon internals also?

if you guys get my drift as to what im asking throw some info at me! I am all ears as I dont quite know all the stuff about these motors yet!

thanks,

anthony.

Probly not the answer you might be after but I know of a site sponsor here running a FG lpg motor with the (standard) higher compression motor + some porting inc. turbo and other supporting mods putting out 380rwkw on PUP.

dont use BA series , weak rods ,

I think its 07 BF gets the tougher rods

not sure what the go is with the N/a versions

but if your talking typhoon rods , your talking turbo motors.

it would be way cheaper in the long run to buy a turbo setup, leave the turbo off and get and Xcal and mapped for N/a , then when your ready for the turbo,

whack it all in !

my bro is doing a n/a to turbo conversion.

He bought a bf mk2 phoon motor from ford and atomic oil pump gears and crap loads of other stuff.

Its not as straight forward as one would think to do a conversion. I mean you gotta get all the sensors, some plugs arent a straight swap either like the plug on the inlet manifold is different and apparently needs to be wired backwards, computer, inlet and zorst valves, 4 bar fuel reg. and that's just a few off the top of my head. It adds to alot more than that little list you write up before you start that's for sure. :drag:

We both agreed it would of been sh1loads cheaper and easier to just buy a BA mk1 5 peed manual pull the motor out and rebuild it.. he already has a mal wood 6 speed box and a built diff out of a 9 sec xr6 t as he thrashed the standard gear just running a modded n/a.

that's why I say buy a turbo package for FTG or similar (ebay) get an Xcal , delete the turbo/manifold and few other bits. tune it.

then but the turbo gear in , go back o stock or re-tune for more fun

I think I know who you're talking about Kroozin, High Comp LPG motor, big turbz on E85? Makes great sense having a good high static CR so response off-boost is still good then a very boost tolerant fuel to raise cylinder pressure with using boost. Anthony I'd shoot for the FG motor any day.

just read in the other thread that all rods are the same throughout ( unless I misread ) the only thing that really changes is forged pistons.
