good to hear u got livelink running sweet with your Xcal 3, my next step is to get a few more ppl data logging then il knock out a tuitorial how to:

1. setting up logging for use with Livelink

2. On device logging

3. Analog input of wide bands and such

4.manipuating the data with excel ( with formulas of F to C temp conversions , boost in PSI) and outputting pretty graphs to look at

Timmy-XR6T when you say it then started onto the drivers installation had you not plugged in the xcal at this stage?

The Xcal icon only shows up in the device manager when I have it plugged in. It has the yellow exclaimation mark on it. Have already tried right clicking and selecting update driver but it only comes up with automatically find using windows blh blah or find it manually.

I will try and find it manually tomorrow when I get hm thru those files u mentioned thanks mate.

Failing that will try and re-install http://api.viglink.c..._13171136018661 from this link.

From memory, I installed the app and it went through the install process, then a second install process kicked off, it looked more like an executable unpacking some files.

Then I connected the xcal and and the standard windows driver install window came up, and I selected search for driver automatically (or what ever it said close enough) - it found the drivers and installed them ok.

I would be looking to see if you can see any the driver files or directories and manually point the xcal to it when you plug it in. if not try and uninstall any instances you have of livelink, and then re-run through the install from the herrod website.

I too think it is importat to have a data log sesh or 2.

The data log can be used a reference point later if need be, which could save alot of guess work if things begin to go pear shaped.

On another note my fans have been sorted out now. I ended up giving the values to be entered......... cheers IH8TOADS

The needle now is roughly on 1 needle thickness over the 1/4 line when cruising and

roughly on 1-2needle thicknesses under 3/4 if the half way line was max when sitting in traffic.

I also got the "speed less than for fans to be on" raised from 30 to 40.

Just need some time to myself so I can sort out a this data logging. Thanx again guys. :derisive:

Have you noticed any difference in which way the car behaves now that you got your fans sorted out?

Does it feel more responsive? I'm thinking of getting a lower thermostat and have the fans settings adjusted accordingly.

Yeah, I think I'll give it a go. When my car is sitting in traffic and temps reaches half way, the car does'nt feel too happy, especially if I give it a boot full, feels laggy and can hear a bit of pinging.

Sitting in traffic the 82degree tstat wont really help you unless you get the fans to cut in earlier.

Though cruising around without the fans cutting in earlier and it will run abit cooler.

But yeah like I said... if the reason you are doing this swap over is to run cooler engine temps when just sitting there in traffic, you will need the fans adjusted or your just wasting your time.

When my fans werent adjusted right, it was getting up around halfway sitting in traffic with a 72deg. tstat.

The only way I could bring the temp down was by cranking the heater on with high fan boiling my ass off.

I think you will need to get a tuner to do it..

Just make sure he/she knows what they are doing.

I must admit I was a little disappointed when I realised my fan setting stuff up was no mistake. :negative:
