Xcal 3 Datalogging

Hey guys,

Is there any step by step or how to available for the xcal 3?

At this point in time I am particularly interested in finding what my hi and low fan speed cut in is (mainly) and also being able to monitor coolant temps and IAT.

You don't even have to plug use a laptop to monitor coolant temp.

Just plug it in the serial port before starting.

Can't remember exactly but self explanatory. Select data logging. Monitor etc. With show a live reading with the engine temp running in Fahrenheit.

Very easy.

Better still download the software on the Herrod website. It is fantastic.

Downloadd the software to your laptop.

Plug the xcal into the serial port, then into the laptop while driving. I use some velcro and put the laptop in the passenger footwell. (Lots of tape on trackdays too)

With a lot of luck!

The Xcal 3 is known to have issues with logging.

I dont think you will be able to log with just the box unless it has been setup for it. You can do this via the software that is on the Herrod site, however it has limitations, logging via laptop is best as it allows you to capture a large amount of data (up to 25 PID's IIRC).

As stated you will have to do the conversion from fahrenheit, but once you get the data you can make pretty graphs....

Thnx. does anyone know how to check the fan settings?

These things dont sound too robust considering the $$ worried if I jump in to it ill f@#k it up hence the questions thanx guys.

I can get it workng , its not easy for those who want to know

YOU MUST I MEAN MUST follow these steps EXACLTY!!! in the order or it wont work!!!

1.Turn on yur laptop (DUH)

2.Plug in your Xcal via the usb port

3.start livelink

4.Plug in th Xcal to the OBD2 port and turn to on DO NOT START!!!

5. press the squiggly line in the top row

6. select what you want to log ,Uppercase items are PIDS and update faster , and select ok

7.START YOUR ENGINE

8. Press the green square

9. watch the data roll in

10. drive like a loony then stop the log and review data.

when I get time ill write up how to export the data into excel and create graphs to make data easyier to anal eyes
