Hi Guys, has anyone experienced or heard of a poor performance issue on emergency or panic stops? When you have to really stand on the pedal because you have been cut off Etc, the pedal goes rock hard and very little braking occurs. ABS is NOT activated. Just not much happens when you really need it.

Appreciate you time

Mate you better get that looked at by a brake specialist ASAP! Mine was always fine stock, still uses the stock calipers now after getting power upgrades.

My fluid was waaaaaaaaay past its use by date and I never had this problem?

But it can't hurt to change it. How old is your brake fluid?

70K on the clock, Aftermarket rotors (cant remember) and TWR pads.

Logically I think the only thing that would cause this is a booster issue. Just wanted to know if anyone has experienced this before.

Thanks

I have actually noticed this once (only had my bf II for 2000kms) but I was in city traffic and shifted into 1st (semi auto) instead of 3rd (missus has a semi automatic the other way around so it took a little bit to get used to) and I shot foward so I quickly grabbed the brake (about 20% to 30% of the pedal using toes only, no knee bending) and it felt like I was pushing a brick wall. I wasnt breaking hard enough to notice a reduced amount of stopping force, and as for shutter, I only seem to get it whilst lightly braking and turning slightly (5-10 degree bend)

With the engine off pump the pedal until all the vac assist is gone ( the pedal will go hard)

Start the engine and the pedal should drop slightly and soften up. If it doesn't it would suggest an issue with the booster.

If why the engine off pump the pedal doesn't cause it too go hard ( IE you can push the pedal too the floor) I'd be looking at air in the system (quite common with the factory brakes if they aren't bled correctly)
