are you saying that the cold side of the cooler is too hot to touch while idling? that doesnt sound right...

even at idle, once your engine is up to temp, the thermos will cut in and draw in that 18 deg air through the cooler, it should not get hot at all....

even the uncompressed air passing through the cooler at idle will not be that hot, it only gets warmed up as it passes through the turbo housing which will only add a few degrees to it... so even the hot side of the cooler should only be slightly warm at idle.... cold side should be stone cold still if ambient is only 18 degrees

It gets real hot to touch idling for a long time but not too hot to touch...then again not comfortable to keep your hand there really either.

Yeah the thermos cut in but doesnt change anything. Engine temps drop on the temp guage but cooler is just as hot.

Its just heat soak from everywhere I believe that cuts power cause the intercooler was definetly hotter after I drove it hard from idling for 1.5 km, but power was back even though the cooler was scary hot so...proves its not the intercooler alone

That doesn't sound right.

A cooler shouldn't heat soak on idle, it's just ambient air. Might be slightly heated going through the turbo but still. Something ups.

On idle the turbo should be just turning over pushing air though it normaly, it only heats up under high RPM which in turn heats the air going through it.

Catch 22, but its essentially free boost unlike crank driven blowers that sap power too spin.

Took mine for a spin before.. A rather harsh spin up a massive hill.. Stopped at the top and left it idling while chatting to a mate.. There was no heat on the intercooler whatso ever and it's current 28 Celsius outside. I reckon it needs checking out by someone who knows these things.

Having over 400kw I suppose you have an upgraded intercooler? We're talking stockers
