Hey all,

Great forum. Gained so much useful info. Did a forum search and couldn't find too much on this, a thread or two.

Anyone know who would be best to take my FG to, to suss out if the odometer has been tampered with/wound back. Maybe something a dealer might be able to do?

Picked up one and starting to get suss on it's history. I'm in Vic if that's of any help.

(suss because of disproportionate wear to certain interior pieces)

Oh, and if it turns out provably tampered with, reckon I'd have any recourse under a statutory dealer warranty?

Thanks for any info people may have.

Oh I should mention its a second hand, not new, from a dealer.

Really hope it isn't. Love the thing. Going to get in touch with another dealer tomorrow morning . See if they can diagnose it for me. I'll keep you guys posted for info sharing sake if yas like.

Totally want to buy me a keychain, look neat and/or donate. Might not have this car long though. *sigh*

Just putting this here too, for anyone else who might be/find themselves in my boat:

Mate, you can change the Odo with a simple replacement of the gauge cluster. Ford can set the milage with their WDS, but in NSW they record the mileage every year and if there is a reduction in the reading, there is a please explain.

I would be very surprised if it has been done, as it was something new on this place. Interior wear can be difficult to confirm, as they may have swapped the interior with a wreck if the car was water damaged or they may have been careless with the car.

Check the service records with Ford and look for other signs.

Ah yeah, maybe I'm just being OCD. Seats are actually pretty good. Steering wheel and auto shifter are shiny as though O_o .. Indicator and washer stalk crusty. Dash with weird marks. Meant do have done just over 50 thou.. looks more like 150 in ways.

I was reading something about the ECU storing old KM data but maybe that's not right. It's ex NSW though, might have a go with REVS. Cheers for all the feed back so far.

If you just swapped the gauge cluster with one that reads lower, would that work/ what they might have done?

I'd think it'd hard to tell either way..

I say ex cop car, does it have reverse sensors? Marks on dash dead giveaway. Push passenger seat right back and check left side transmission tunnel carpet, see if covered up with 3 plastic caps or carpet cut offs. If it has them ex cop car which dealer should have told you.

Should've also mentioned it's a ute. I'd be amazed if it was, it'd have brembos too right? :D

Body on it is great, so at least that. About to have a talk with local dealers. Get a green light and off it goes to HPF or Nizpro for conservative tinkering. Maybe they'd have an idea after spening a few hours with it.
