Hey everyone, been waiting 3 years to get an xr6T and finally getting off the P plates in a few weeks so looking at buying my first xr6T. Im looking into this alot as I plan to keep the car for a long time, but due to being young and an apprentice my budget is around $16'000, could possibly push it to $20'000 at the utmost. Basically id be looking at a BA model which is fine, I know to stay clear of the 5spd manuals, so looking at the 6spd manual ones but have also heard they are generally not the best of the models.. but are they that bad that I should not consider getting one? and I assume BAmk2 is the best of the BA's? I would like to do some mods to it, but nothing to intense.. sorry if its been answered 1000 times, I have looked over the forum all day, and just thought id ask!

Cheers, Josh

What state are you in mate? I know of a clean BA MK2 coming up for sale soon.

Hey Mate, you must be slightly older than me then or quicker in progressing on your licence. I can't get my opens till December even though I turned 20 last week :)

It looks like you've already done a bit of research in to the models. As you correctly guessed BA MkII is better than a BA but the ideal if you can get one would be a post 06/06 BF as it has the stronger Typhoon Internals.

A quick search on Car Sales shows there's not many manual BF's under 20K so I would focus on getting a good BA MkII

What sort of power are you looking at making? You'll have to do the valve springs if you want to do more than a small amount of modding.

Hey mate, Im in NSW

Yeah, I turned 20 in July and could of got my opens then but lost my licence for 3 months unfortunately so it got pushed back to october!

To be honest im completely new to the whole modding thing, as ive never really seen the point in doing anything to a v6 whilst ive been on my p's, but now im very eager to learn, and plan to learn as much as I can, and do as much of the stuff myself so I learn more about my own car as I go :)

Just a note, if you want a xr6 turbo and want to mod with your budget, make sure you have some money in reserve, cause when things break, it can be costly

That's very wise mate.

With a budget of 16-20 you should easily be able to get a nice BF - they are a better car than BA and not that much more expensive (coming from someone with an old (but still fast!) BA with nearly 200K)

Bargain very hard because Ts are hard to sell being large and thirsty, so don't worry about the selling price - just make offers and you may get a steal (as I did when I bought my BA with everything for less than 20k five years ago) :beerchug:
