The torque converter fell on the ground when I lowered the jack holding the gearbox up and I lost nearly a litre of oil.It had been serviced recently and was taking it's time dropping down a gear at roundabouts and then as I accelerated it would bang into gear. Since I lost all that oil it's been great I think over-filling is not good for them at all.I wondered why the ZF "agent" said I got some oil free...So even the "right" stuff performs poorly if the level is wrong. Started a little while after having it serviced. It bugs the hell out of me but Simon advised it's fine and all the autos he's ever owned have done the same thing? Is it the torque converter locking/unlocking? I worry it will cause premature wear. It's really noticeable in 5th at say 80km/h up a slight incline, yo-yos about 250RPM. broke Donating Members 229 Member For: 13y 2m 15d Gender: Male Posted 07/05/12 10:04 PM Share Posted 07/05/12 10:04 PM (edited) only time I get any form of rev hunt is first up in the morn when I start it up and leave it for 30sec it'll rev maybe 200-300 rpm higher than usual and back down to regular idle, once in gear it doesnt do it at all that ive noticed. but the weather is alot cooler up here so ive put it down to cold oil. if I pot around in D then it's sweet but lurches slightly more and more the warmer the oil gets. if I put it in perf D and spray it a few times it'll lurch almost instantly after a spray. only from 2nd to 1st obviously. hoping the Transmax can lower the severity of the lurch when up to temp. thinking about getting external cooler installed at same time I get the oil dumped as well. but it's likely to double the cost of the service.but good to know that people arent having serious issues with Transmax, I live in a generally pretty warm climate so in times of the year like now where its cooler in the morn I'll leave the car warm up 30sec longer or something. good stuff Edited 07/05/12 10:06 PM by broke

A mate has used it in his fg xr6t from new and it has on 400rwkw now with no probs hot or cold! My modified F6X that I have recently bought has done 87000km now and never had the box serviced so I am going to call Town Automatics and Action Automatics tomorrow to see if they have done the ZF before and if they have the flushing equipment otherwise it will be with Aitkenvale Auto & Dyno for the flush. I need to get a 20lt tin though so hope supercheap has Transmax on special soon!Need to be made of money this year FFS!!!broke,Let me know how you go and what you paid mate... Town Auto will seemingly ONLY use Lifeguard and want $50 a litre for it. I got a quote of $400 for a full flush and service (filter, gasket) with Transmax Z from Whitehouse Street Auto & Dyno. My T already has the steel pan so im guessing around $700ish if yours doesnt have the steel pan. Havent tried Action Automatics actually. The guys at Whitehouse Street seem to know what they're doing but are a little blasé. For example I got my 55k logbook service and the receipt said "55,000 Service" lol that's all, nothing stating what exactly it was they did.
