I guess, what are the advantages of changing to the metal pan?

cheaper in the long run, only buying a new filter not sump every oil change.

getting my box serviced in the next 2 weeks. Went to a few places and most of the joints dont want to use anything but genuine oil but I think this is generally because of sheer lack of knowledge.

Looked around and getting 20L of Guld Western Syntrans for $230 from Motorworx. Phoned a few places ( even gulf western recomended supplier on their website in Mount Gambier) and this was the cheapest price I could get.

Been quoted $350 for a full flush, steel pan and filter. Im pretty happy with that.

Was also looking at getting the external transmission cooler done while I was at it. But due to the lack of options on the market and the mixed reports I have decided to just order a replacement Heat exchanger from Ford. My car is virtually stock and I dont give it too much stick for more than 30secs at a time so im pretty confident it will hold up. I also got told by the ford rep in the sales department that " if as a result something goes wrong with your vehicle as a result of the part we supplied we will cover repair costs"...comes with a guarantee warranty thing. But I highly doubt ford will be forking out for a new box !!!!

also when speaking to the sales rep she stated that when searching for a heat exchanger that their was no Specific R-Spec one. That the BF typhoon exchanger was classed in one category. Is this right? I was after the R-spec one because I was under the impression it was bigger than the standard phoon one.

Will let you know how it goes when it all goes down!!

Or perhaps because of a high level of knowledge.

its corrosion that kills it causing the two chambers to become one, not thrashing your car.

The part number for the Rspec is the same as the territory, I got that one at the moment but I'm about to replace it with a new one stamped "mahle" but mahle just bought the KTM factory so its the same old sh*te.

Ended up getting my trans serviced at a place in Adelaide called MV automatics. was charged $550, + 250 in which I supplied 20L of the Gulf Western oil. included the steel pan and the installation of my heat exchanger. Only used 11Litres of oil. The old oil definetly was off colour and needed changing soonish! Overall I was content with the pricing and outcome of their service. Pretty much smack bang on what I budgeted for/ expected it to cost.

I automatically noticed a difference in smoother gear changes. Especially in manual mode; previously it took probably about.5 seconds for the box to change gears when manually changing, now it changes instantly.

They also sell that same PWR kit that goes on ebay for $580 installed with snap on fittings and good hoses, I think I will be looking at getting that done when the warranty for the heat exchanger expires.
