@riptide either take it to fraud or whoever the best auto place up there is. They can do it alot easier than doing it the manual long way. But if you want to do it yourself drain it, put fluid in disconnect the pump line that goes to the cooler and allow it to push dirty fluid out while running then once clear or if it goes through all the fluid in the box shut it off before it runs dry then change pan and refill.

Where is the best place to service the ZF in sydney! Its pretty hard to hold trust on some workshops these days, my last car had the 4 speed auto which I got serviced at a transmission specialist locally! then found out they were pulling a swifty with every local FORD dealership.

Try BTA motorsports in Campsie.

That sounds like a good idea for clearing the fluid.

I rang fraud and they gave me a price of $1200 without fitting the metal pan o_O

I talked to the ZF agents (Eastern Automatics) and the guy there suggested I just drain the box for a couple of hours and replace the pan. He said that will get most of it. If I'm not happy with the oil colour after that I can do what you suggested or do a second change with my 20L. They also had reasonable prices on the pans (plastic or metal) Looks like the box holds 9.8L. I can fit a hose to a tap on a 20L container and lightly pressurize it using a regulator to push the oil up the hose into the box. I will get 3 changes for the price of one this way so getting 100% flush is not so critical to me :)

I got mine through a mate at Bursons.

The supplier he got it through was ZF Aus he said.

Can also get it through Motospecs, but ZF Aus was cheaper. (www.zf.com.au)

thanks for that mate. I tried The ZF webiste but its about as useful as a hooker wearing pants and all the email I send them keep bouncing back to me..

I guess, what are the advantages of changing to the metal pan?
