Headlight Chrome- Are They All Faulty?

The chrome surrounds on the left main headlight fell off into the floor of the headlight frame. Thought it was strange. Back to the dealer who had to replace the light assembly. Thought nothing of it until yestersay looked at the right one and it has done the same.

Has anyone else experienced this or is this a "monday" car.

Little dodgy thngs lke this are the most annoying.

Does this mean Ford do not accept responsibility for components supplied by external manufacturers?!

A novel concept indeed, Aaron. If that was the case, a very large percentage of the parts that make up your car would be "not Ford's fault" when things go wrong.

Ford contracts for the components and has ultimate responsibility for quality control.

No one is saying that Ford don't take responsibility for the parts made by someone else, Aaron just stating that you can't blame Ford for a parts they don't make, Ford will replace it under warranty. It's alot like the brake issue, Ford don't make the componets that are at fault but think just how much it has cost them in warranty claims, I'd reckon it would be heaps!

I worked at mitsubishi about 20 yrs ago on the assembly line and couldnt keep up, thus office job is better.

Zeke, not suggesting that it's not Fords problem... Just suggetsing that instead of hunting down the bugger int he Ford factory, curious may be better served chasing the happy Hella pixies instead

And Ford looses $$ with each warranty claim on an item from an outside supplier, while Ford gets the part replaced 'free' they cover the dealerships costs in replacing it for you!

In the end Ford has the ultimate responsibility. They specific the workscope & techinical specification to all sub-contractors during the contract tender phase. They accept the product / component at an agreed price, incorporate it into the car to sell as a whole. They take responsibility for the car & everything that makes it up.

If a brake component fails. The OH&S legal duty of care falls firstly onto Ford as the primary supplier of the good to the customer. The customer could also pursue the sub-contractor who supplied Ford that component under breaches in OH&S. ANd so on and so on.

Definitely Fords problem, no matter who supplied them the component. They provide & agreed to the specifications & accept supply.
