Brought the car to Pedder's to have them do the 28 point check, and to look for the issue I'm hearing.

They couldn't find anything, and he said he had checked literally everything he could think of and said everything was basically perfect.

There's always 1 place I can 100% hear the noise when I'm driving around, and it's near my house. Drove over the bumpy road and there was the same noise again.

No idea what it can be now and it's frusterating. If only I could hear it in the car I wouldn't mind too much, but it's loud from outside the car too.

Its not the exhaust hitting somewhere is it? And you should check near the joining flanges between sections, can be hard to find.

Love reviving a thread, has a good feel to it in the early hours of the morning.

Just thought I'd update my thoughts on this, as it's still happening...

I'm fairly positive it has nothing to do with my suspension now.

I get the sound when I open a drivers side door (front or back) and its a metal hitting metal sound, as if something is loose somewhere on the back right of the car (at least that's where it sounds like its coming from)

The same thing when I go over bumps, instead of calling it a knocking sound as people would be thinking "thud", it's a metal hitting metal sound as it were the exhaust, but that's been checked and it's not.

Still no idea and a few people have looked and cant seem to find what it is.

edit:

Just went out to the car then after it has been sitting all night. I always get the sound when the car has been left for a while (over an hour, hence why when people have a look at it they cant pick the sound)

Pretty much put very minimal down force on the roof just above the back drivers side door and heard a feint metal tick, then pushed down on the boot and heard a much louder tick that started on the drivers side from what sounded like behind the rear wheel and seemed to carry ever so slightly to the passengers side.

It's position is in line with the rear sway bar, but it all looks fine (plus had pedders look at it when they installed the adjustable coilovers and they coudlnt see anything)

I have similar thing in my 07 bf f6 sedan. It's lowered with adjustable coilovers and I have had everything checked and apparently all the bushes etc are fine. I have a squishy squeek sound when the car goes over every bump (apparently that's rubber suspension bushes after you have lowered car?) but I also have a metal on metal knock sounds which is really loud, constant as I'm driving and I can feel through the handbrake and through the floor above the driveline area like it vibrates through the car. Maybe mine is exhaust??? I don;t know though because it just happened all of a sudden and I'd already had exhaust mounts bent to stop it touching the diff last service... Also had diff and control blade bushes replaced.

These weird noises in these cars are starting to annoy the sh*t out of me... I love falcons but I also hate them!

Any further updates on yours???

Na nothing new on mine yet, still need to get someone to come for a drive with me who can listen to it and identify it.

Seems that when I take it in to a shop, they take it for a test drive but never hear anything. I'd say it's because the roads are all smooth and they take it over speed humps thinking that if it were to make the noise it would do it over them, but it doesnt over speed humps. Happens over bumps in the road, and the joins in bridges and what not. Those sort of bumps.

Hey guys

So when I sit in the drivers seat, I hear a knock, It's more of a squeak knock though if you know what I mean.

I also get it when I drive over bumps in the road, it's not all bumps though, usually the lighter ones (like when the road goes from tarmac to brick then back to tarmac).

What do you guys think is most likely the cause of it?

06 BF XR6T Sedan

Cheers

Just sit in the passenger seat.

You could be on to something...

Btw, anyone who feels like they might be able to diagnose my problem in Perth, just let me know. I'll come to you and you can listen for it :)

I'm NOR but work in Belmont (technically SOR)
