Just wanted to get any thoughts and ideas regarding my FG XR6 Turbo Utility! I purchased mine new and took delivery on 18th August 08. The missus took the ute out the other day and whilst the car was out of the garage I noticed a few little drops of oil on the ground! (It's only just started!)

Rang the dealership straight away and booked the car in. Obviously the dealership advised me that the car was no longer under warranty and that the issue with the car is that the timing cover seal has gone and will cost me $750 to rectify!! Almost sh*t my pants! The car has done only 42000kms with no modifications to the engine.

Any advice or out of warranty experiences that people have had with dealing with Ford. Any help will be greatly appreciated as the car is out of warranty by just over two weeks. Not to mention that I have only just purchased my missus a brand spanking new XR5 Turbo Focus (just traded her immaculate BA II XR8 Manual Sedan) and a little apprehensive about a further parting of $750 to Ford.

Other than that the ute has run like a dream and given me hardly any issues (Flapping LH side inner guard, and Blown Muffler, all happily fixed by Q Ford in Springwood Qld)

Cheers

Tim

Hey Tim, don't quit just yet. Keep hastling Ford service. Demand to speak to the service manager. If they wont come to the party, send an email to Ford Australia outlining your problems. Maybe throw in a mention of consumer affairs. I worked at Nissan for over 5 years part of which I spent as a warranty clerk and in my experience these kind of actions can pay off. Don't give up mate. Its low k and 2 weeks out of warranty FFS!!

id be getting this done under warranty, even if yours ran out by 2 weeks. if you make unough fuss they should give in. if not yep write that letter.

as long as you have had full service hisory with the same dealer I cant see this not being fixed by them. I heard plenty of cases exactly like yours and the dealer fixed it in good faith.

Cool thanks for that!! Yeah fingers crossed they will cover it. I will ring Ford Customer Relations as well tomorrow and give them a heads up and also let them know that I have purchased another new car a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully they may come to the party! Will keep ya's posted.

Cheers for the fast replies, any further advice or comments would be of great assistance!

Well I received the phone call from the Service Division advising that the car was finished and ready for pick up. Service Manager advised that they declined paying for the warranty work. Very disappointed. Well I rang Ford Customer Relations Centre and advised them of this and how annoyed that a vehicle with only 40000 km's on the clock having an issue such as this and not being able to come to the party. I spoke to someone there who was going to review the case. The original decision maker (the one who declined it in the first place) asked me what was wrong with the car....blah blah blah. She advised that she would discuss this with the service manager and get back to me.

Well I received the phone call back and she advised that yes it is a manufacturing fault however there is no record that my car has received it's regular logbook services....which it has. Apparently the servicing wasn't recorded on Ford system...however the car has always been serviced through the dealership throughout the whole warranty period...don't know what happened there! And yes all the receipts are in the servicing pouch in the glovebox. Told em to tell the service manager to check in there and they will see that everything is all above board!! Fingers crossed. They have admitted that it is a manufacturing fault. Will keep ya posted and yep I will pursist. Thanks peeps!

good luck with this mate, I had the same issue on my last FG T. They shaved the bolts down and fixed it all back up but it kept leaking oil. Ending up ditching and got another one.

Push hard, get them to fix it under warranty its a known issue. Then make sure you understand what warranty you have on that repair - will either be 30 or 90 days and make sure you keep an eye on it in case the same prob comes back.

Did you change the plates on the car?

Yep Timmy I will definitely keep a very close eye on it!! Considering that they shaved the bolts down to give it a bit more of a closer hold of it!! Dagabond, Yeah brus I did change the plates on it to personalised at some stage but I advised them of this! Well all the receipts etc were in my log book folder in the glovebox and they have past the info onto Ford Customer Care for determination. Fingers Crossed it goes ahead with a positive result!! Will keep ya posted!!

im keeping a close eye on mine for now on.
