I put it on end of the day of a wash and let it dry, all good no splater next day- I have toxic paint and no splatter showing. I usually apply then wipe the tyre with a microfibre cloth. Is pretty crap to be honest.The best stuff I have used so far is Zaino Z-16. It is water based, dries to the touch and absolutely NO sling whatsoever. It gives the tyres a more natural looking satin finish rather than glossy. The tyres look 'new' rather than wet. A little goes a long way too...I apply a small amount to a foam applicator and rub it on my tyres and it seems to go on forever.It's also good for freshening up rubber hoses etc... in your engine bay. Give the tyres a generous coating after a wash and pretty much drive after.. Colour is phantom but I have never noticed it.. Can't remember who makes it (CRC maybe). I put into one of the little pump sprayers. Dries to a natural looking semi gloss. Normally spray on then wipe the excess of with a rag.
