Hey guys,

I'm a newbie ford man(previous R33 skyline),I have just put a deposit down on a brand new 2011 FG XR6T.The head sales guy said coz I want manual transmission that it would have to be built on the production line & that's exactly what I wanted a brand new spanker that know has driven. My question is how many KM's should I expect there to be on the car when I take delivery if any, does ford run them at all after production or anything like that. The reason I ask is I want to be sure that no one has given it a good thrashing before I take delivery especially as it needs to be run-in first. The last thing I want to see after spending so much cash on my first brand new car is km's clocked up on the speedo already.Has anyone here picked up a brand new spanker of the production line & how many km's was on the clock when u received it & what were they from.

Cheers guys :VB Beer:

A "new" car will usually have 10km or less on it. They have to drive it from the final assembly point to a carpark somewhere while it sits and waits for a car transporter to pick it up. It is then delivered to the dealer and driven to another carpark. Then the dealer does a "dealer prep" before delivery (a $1500-$2000 car wash) and a short test drive to make sure that there are not any unusual clunking or banging noises. That's when they thrash it!

Relax, it's under warranty!

Thanks for the reply turbonator much appreciated mate, but did u have to end the quote in "And that's when they thrash it",haha I didn't want to hear that but I suppose they have to give it a bit to see if all is ok.

Mate, you are worrying way too much! I can understand why with the $$ spent but thousands of XRs are sold so its not a "special" car that would create that kind of attention.

The car will be fine regardless of how many Ks it has as part of delivery :beerchug:

I forgot to add, please post some pics after you get it and congratulations on your purchase. As CBXRT said, "mate, you are worrying way too much!" You sound like an expectant father! I can understand it though if you are a young bloke and this is your first new car. I wish you years of trouble free driving. :beerchug:

If it had more than ten K's on it when I went in to pick it up I would tell the farkers to jam it.

It's not the worry of some neanderthal thrashing it.

The freeken point is I am buying a bloody new car and not a demo.

I've bought quite a few new cars all with 10-25 ks on the clock so I would consider it normal.

I would be more concerned about the pie fetchers at Fraud service flogging it

Mine came with 8. Some new cars have 20 if they've been picked up to get window tinting or paint protection done outside of the dealer.

under 20kms is normal. just depends on how many times they need to move it. a test drive will only be 1-3kms max.

but yes as mentioned above id be more concerned about the 15yr olds servicing it at fraud.
