Glenn,

if you pop the hood while running & then switch off, you'll actually be able to hear the turbo spinning after the motor has stopped.

Hey.

When I go for a bash I dont havta look at the Turbo 'cause I'm the one that usually glowing.

SWMBO tells me the same thing happens after a couple of extra Tullamore's as well. Maybe I'll nickname it Tullamore Turbo!!

So, this is a really stupid question but what does the turbo do to make the car go faster?

I heard (from a chick! lol ) that it creates a better mixture of air and fuel. Is this right?

By pure coincidence, I found the impellar in my Turbo was damaged. Couldn't understand why, as a new vehicle, it surged when you put the foot down. 3 of the impellar blades were damaged hence disrupted air flow through the Turbo.

Having a brand new Turbo fitted tomorrow as Ford Aust want the complete unit back as it seems it was damaged prior to the motor etc being built.

People, take the main air flow tube off and have a look at yours, you never know.

Glenn,

Check out www.howstuffworks.com for a really good explanation on all things mechanical, including turbos etc.

In short, turbo means more air into motor, which enables more fuel to be added, which means bigger bang.
