That or I pull the 750 off and get it back to MTA to fix - should that prove to be the fault. That would be the cheapest option but....who knows how long the car would be off the road.

Are you sure they are logging wastegate actual D/C and there is no issues between the hoses connecting the boost sol/actuator/and cracking psi and to check its 100% re seating to closed position ( flapper ) once on the car ?

Its a time consuming job but dump off after a run ( not boosting as u said etc ) and checking seat position for 100% closed

As u know ports n flaps can catch

Looking a million bucks on the bench does not mean jack once connected and moved under heat a few times

If its 100% not tune related and hoses are connected correctly it has to be port n flap or hot side leak through to cold side but massively rich AFR's will show this up !

I'm going to the shop shortly so we'll see if anything has progressed.

I fitted the new solenoid myself and put worm drive clamps on. The problem existed before that already though. The replacement housing had been checked for operation. It had new shaft, bush & flapper installed plus the seat was machined 20 thou to ensure it didn't catch. It's a bit thin for seat on the top (probably 1.5mm) but seats perfectly.

Butt plug makes a very good point

As painfull as it will be (and probably very hot) taking the dump off after a low boost run, will answer the question straight away if the flapper is seating completely...

Haven't taken the dump off again at this stage but they did remove the actuator arm and check to ensure it was seating. I was told it was seated - no tight spots or anything.

Where going to give it a break until after PowerCruise then depending on how much I'm up for already, get car in again.

On the plus side, the car is making 362rwkw but I'd need to run it on the Bonneville salt flats to beat anyone.

Damn dude, I feel for you. I would have given up by now and put the stock snail back on, to see if the issue is still there. Surely that would rule the MTA out nooooooo?

Boost in late is a dyno queen trick although your not up for that on purpose so disregard those figures

Taking dump off costs zero and if said workshop is still charging full wack and not interested in finding said issue because its bugging them now u have zero love at that establishment !

^^ fair call Mr Plug but.... I said to park it until after p/cruise.

I may take the dump of myself or, borrow my mates snake camera and just drop the lower flange and have a look. Even just rattling it when cold will probably tell you if it's not seated. If it all of a sudden goes back another 5mm you'd know straight away.

They did take the lid off again this morning and double check cam timing which was fine.

Thanks for the help guys. I do appreciate it. It's 'just a car' and still drives, but it's our passion and hobby as well.

mazda74, I don't have my little huffer anymore mate as I sold it to help fund this upgrade.

If I can motivate myself, I'll drop the dump and have a look this week. This afternoon, I've secured yet another - this time unmodified FG housing, which I'll have just in case. I'm picking that up Monday. I'm not convinced there is a problem however the Engineer that reconditioned the current housing, did have to drop the seat because it was initially catching.

Prior to my use and the new bush etc, it was supposedly working fine with a GTX3582R. It may have been but the amount of shaft play and that they'd left the boss in place running close to the flapper, required fixing. By setting the seat down 20 thou actually gave more of a seat too. At worse, I reckon it's got 1.5mm on the top then at least the same or a bit more for the remainder. I am a little concerned however, that it wasn't 'd' ported to ensure it's impossible for the flapper to grab.

Anyhoo, lets see what it looks like.

Maybe you need to take some time off and bring your baby over to the west coast and get the best in the west to have a look at it?

I am sure that either XFT or MT would resolve it for you in a span of a week. This would give you a good 2 week holiday and you get to catch up with the guys in WA.

:P
