The modified little huffer is still being built old_mate. I'm leaning back towards an out of the box garrett to be honest. No disrespect to MTA but frankly, cost wise with a donor turbo it isn't really viable. Sonic are doing GTX3576R's at the moment for $1375. That's all new with the upgraded .60 cover with 4" inlet etc. The modified MTA little huffer is $1100 but retains the s/hand original cover. Probably ok if you want to rebuild your original but I'm wanting another complete turbo.

Jeez that's cheap for gtx

I kinda miss the response of the small turbo

Soo much punch

My gtx3540 is still fairly responsive but no where near as good as the old one

And right there is the common theme we're now seeing. It's really interesting when you get on track and test the car against those with bigger turbos making more power. If they pack big numbers, most of the time they just break into a powerskid and you chop them. No I can't do that and it looks cool, but point to point I'm going faster. Cars I've run with GTX3582R's that actually hook up, take pretty much all of the front or back straight of QR to catch me. Even then, they only dust me by a car length or two. Through the paperclip - nup. By the time they come on boost and really get motoring, we're braking into the corner - me in front.

I will most likely never have a 400rwkw chart or see 130mph at the drags. I set out to build a tourer and stout street car. I'm still of the view that a GTX3576R will give me that :)

bump....

Oh hang on, it's my thread :)

Had a few crappy bills recently but...am nearly back on track. Don't really want to miss the cooler season without doing 'something' so am aiming to do valve springs with the ID's and new fuel pump slipped in plus tickle the tune as a minimum shortly. May not see a new turbo this year unless it craps itself or the option I had on a GTX3582R comes up. A mate has his MTA modded (billet wheel etc) little huffer going on Monday so will see how that comes up. Still haven't ruled that either as it would save a few little fitment issues such as different joiners etc.
