Installed the brake upgrade today :)

Very happy with the difference the hose kit made. Much better pedal. Less spongy and more progressive.

The pads had already been fitted and I was running dot 4 penrite fluid also. So other than the slotted rotors, the main difference was the lines.

All said, I'm very happy with this mod. Not Brembos, but fine for 95% of what I do. The only other thing I'm considering is running some ducting on the upper side of the stone tray If I can hide it and make it functional.

Costs:

Rotors - $250 (special from Race Brakes)

Brake lines - $240

QFM Pads - $150

^^^ Even took the wheel off to get a good photo Jet :)

The only fault I found with the safebrake kit is the rubber mount on the rear hoses had been shrinked in the wrong position. I may have got unlucky with mine and am going to contact them. As a result, it springs out of the factory mount (as seen in photo). I'm going to fix it by either using a spring clip or even a cable tie will keep it in position. Only a small thing but I'm fussy like that on don't want it to rub. The fronts were perfect.

Ok, brake update.

QFM HPX pads are poo in our cars - don't bother fitting them. Two laps at QR on Sunday and they were toast :( That bad actually, I thought they may have packed the wrong ones.

So, I went to their factory on the goldie on Monday morning and told them what happened. They were really good about it and I now have a front set of their A1RM's fitted. I left the HPX in the rears.

Very happy with these pads. Unlike the HPX, they come pre chamfered and grooved. Surprisingly, they're whisper quite also - zero squeal. Don't seem to give off much dust either and even cold work fine.

They are known to be a bit harder on the rotors but I want something that works so that doesn't concern me. The RDA slotted rotors are as cheap as chips in any case so if I chew 'em in year or so, I throw on another set.

So, if sticking with the standard calipers don't bother with the HPX, go A1RM's straight up.

The A1RM's are more expensive than HPX but QFM actually gave them to me :) Like I said, they were very good about it. I think they retail for around $140 so still very good value IMO. For the first time ever really, the car doesn't feel underbraked.

SDP they actually batched the HPX pads for me as they had no stock at the time. I'm still not 100% sure that they were in fact the right compound. In any case, the A1RM work bloody great with slotted RDA's. I may upgrade the dot 4 penrite to something else before another event at Lakeside 9 December. Other than that, think I've got the right combo now

$140's alright. Pretty sure I paid like $100 for Bendix ultimates in my BA NA and they were just ordinary and are smaller pads! Might have to see if I can get a good deal on some of the same gear you bought. Waiting for summernats, always good for a bargain lol

Only thing I've done to my brakes is Motul 5.1 fluid and was suprised I felt a noticeable difference through that. Might be worth giving that a go?
