hey bomber there is 2 fg monroe items std gt gas and the black gt sport, I also fitted a full set of new monroes last weekend and I also noticed they were a shorter strut wich was good as I use the new progressive rate kings , I got a pelican of a cousin who works at monroe so I got a full set for 98 bucks yeh all 4 gotta win some every now and then

if this helps this is the part number for the gt gas ( not black in colour more of a champange colour )

fronts 35-0645 obviously need 2 and autobarn price was $139 ea

backs 15-0662 come as a pair $179

hope this helps anyone else cause part numbers for fg are still a pain in the butt to get

^^^ yes fitted the GT Sports Jet. Without banging on about it too much, I find them really good. Had an ex Pedders shop manager in my car today and even he agreed the car rode nicely. Other than the engine mods, this is the best improvement I've made on the car.

I had the usually knock from the rears so all 4 got replaced and yeh iam alot happier than normal ( used monroes on all my cars ) also found that alough they were cheap as chips they were thicker girth on both front and back vs stock and the rears had that fancy bit of plastic on them

cant complain

oh and fg is the easiest car to work on I swear lol

You had different model numbers to those didn't you Bomber? Whats the difference between the 2 Jetsnot cause your Autobarn prices for the GT sport are cheaper than ebay is for the GT gas ($500 for all 4 as part of a spring and shock kit)

I'd say they're both a shortened shock but maybe the Gas is for lower cars and Sport for higher cars?

I believe the GT Sport is better

4. Is their a valving difference between GT Gas and GT Sport? What are the other differences between the two products?

The Monroe GT Sport range utilises multi-staged valving that is based on our award-winning Reflex technology to deliver optimum levels of performance, control and handling without sacrificing ride comfort.

The GT Gas product is designed specifically around the OE Spring and is a standard OE replacement product.

The GT Sport is specifically tuned to a firmer, heavier spring designed by King Springs and the valving has been altered accordingly.

In technical terms, the valving in the shock absorber has been modified to deliver a softer compression stroke, thus minimising any suspension harshness.

On rebound however, oil flow has been restricted to enable the shock absorber to better control the spring.

This is how we've engineered the Monroe GT Sport with both optimum performance and ride comfort characteristics - in contrast to many other lowered suspension products, which tend to deliver a harsh, 'crashy' ride ... or they sacrifice performance for ride.

I did get a good deal but most should be able to do the king springs, GT sports, fitted and aligned for under a grand.

Like I said earlier, definately one of the best mods I've done to the car. Highly recommend it.
