Hey Bomber,

Well done. Great you got the height how you wanted. I'm running the same heights F&R, car feels nicely balanced weight wise, steering and brakes feel spot on now, biased just right. Extra shims on the drivers side could be to give more castor offset.

As for you stainless exhaust, it will sound better after it carbons up a bit.

Cheers David

^^^ thanks David. I actually really like the sound of the exhaust. Funny how it's louder than the mild steel version at wot, but quiter at cruise. No drone at that 100 - 115klm mark which the mild steel system did. To be fair, it only lasted on the car two weeks so no real chance to carbon up.

Early days for the new shocks obviously but I will never lower a car again without upgrading them from OEM. The car is so much better now. At around $170 a strut retail (I got trade) for something that has been valved to suit the kings, nuts not to do it really. Perfectly suited to those that only really want to lower the car and aren't chasing premium handling IMO. Even that's probably selling them a bit short - they really are very good. With a 3yr 60k warranty - can't really lose. Also, zero axle tramp :)

I've been contemplating the monroe shocks lately. Would prefer bilstein or koni but I get the feeling ill be breaking sh*t soon and want to leave some cash for that. I'm glad your experience has been good so far.

I had the same reservations about the monroes. In the end, based on advice from some respected suspension shops and in particular kings, I chose these. I ruled out the bilsteins not really based on price, but manly because several had said they're pretty 'firm' and have no adjustment. The konis do so that was the front runner until I looked into these, as people kept recommending them.

All said, they're not going to give you the premium performance that either the bilstein or koni will give. I don't drive at 9 tenths all the time (old fart) so really didn't want to wear a kidney belt for 95% of the remainder. The ride had already firmed up with the low profile rubber, so wanted to get a nice balance between quality and handling. This combo has given the car a sporty feel without feeling every pebble in the road. They're a brand new release for FG so longevity is yet to be proven. I just figured that with the pretty decent warranty, they're worth a shot.

^^ no probs mate.

Went on a club run today on some pretty ordinary country roads. I can honestly say now that the new spring/shock combo is bloody brilliant. Hardly felt bumps that I saw coming and cringed in anticipation. Got on some good twistie stuff on the way home and punted it a bit. The the body roll is minimal now and the car feels sure footed. Pushed the limits of the tyres a couple of times and the suspension was up to it.

One of our club members has also fitted the Monroes to his new GS and loves them also. If they stay like they are now, I'll be happy as.

^^^ yes and after punshing them today - bouncing on the bumpstops a couple of times over causeways etc - the car still hasn't dropped a mm when I measured this arvo. The pedders on the hand, were already heading south on day two, lol.
