Thought I had a win today as Ray Hall has them advertised at $1540 which was the norm twelve months ago pretty much. Called him with card at the ready but surprise surprise, no fkn stock and new orders are for gen2 :( Everyone I spoke with today was of the view that the gen1's should be at least the original price. They've been superseded ffs but they've bumped the price like $500. It sh*ts me on principal so I hope it bites them on the arse. But... I can get the much loved little brother again for under $1500. My initial thoughts were it's a little undersized for what I wanted on the XW build but in saying that, I am seriously only chasing 380 - 400rwkw out of it. Keep in mind, the XW will be around 480kg lighter than an XR6 so I don't think you'd notice it falling over as much. It gives me the 4" front still for cosmetics and I'm sure it will love a hi-mount and 1.01 vband up its bum. My only concern is how mental it would come on. They are a bit less than $1500 and will get to your required power level. I'll chuck a link or 2 in this post but there is more than one seller on ebay. A member called @molch has one and has done a good amount of home tuning with it. Maybe not perfect with your highmount plans but it's something else to consider. The local support is worthwhile. What about the journal bearing precision and bw options? You can get some pretty beasty turbos for the price point plus that will work better with the highmount manifold as most have a 4 bolt rear as an option.
