To screw you up further (lol), why not get Mr Turbo to do a billet wheel conversion and keep your .50 cover etc? Kinda gives you a bit of both at considerably less cost. old_mate can confirm, but pretty sure he went in a car with this spec turbo and thought it was excellent.

I all honesty though, the F6 turbo will probably get it done.

For me, I just keep getting back to what I want the total package to be and how much coin I'm prepared to spend on supporting mods to make the car reliable.

Bottom line, I still love the low and mid range punch of my little turbo. I know the GTX3582R is a great option but it requires more than just plumbing changes. Don't care what anybody says but if you fit one, you'll need valve springs so add another grand. You may not get away with it with the F6 turbo either if the car is getting a bit older, or they're on the edge. So, the little turbo minimises that risk. Also, I think pencil in an input shaft with a GTX3582R so add another 2k. If manual, you'll need a clutch.

My point is, another 50kw (350 - 400) costs you plenty if you want to make the car reliable. You'll also lose some driveability for street duties stepping up to the bigger turbo. My current thinking is, get Mr Turbo's 3576R spec internals with billet wheel etc and retain the .50 cover. That will mean no plumbing or actuator bracket changes etc. Externally, it will look factory. The 'ebay' special billet 53mm wheel makes close to 350rwkw with supporting mods. This one will be 58mm with Mark's superior bearing race set-up. I'm very confident this will make a solid 350. The only difference would be retaining the .50 cover over .60 and 3.5" inlet instead of 4". Keep in mind, the F6 turbo runs a .50 cover and 3.5" inlet but with a bigger wheel.

Hope that helps you jimmixr, lol.

what bomber said.

If you were wanting a reco GT3582r turbo, then the Mr Turbo core is the way to go as it gives a bit more flow at similar costs - without going full GTX

If you already have a good GT3582r, I'd simply use that

If I myself am being perfectly honest, I am really missing the little turbo's spool (which I shouldn't really comment on just yet because my tune still needs a bit or work, and some timing will help bring it on) however the grunt it makes past 5000rpm I wouldn't give back in a heartbeat.

I'll have to reserve final judgement until after my final tune however I suspect I'll end up at the following conclusion -

Those who love the FG spool and aren't chasing huge rwkw would be better off going either the Mr Turbo or GTX 3576r spec turbocharger, and consider E85 if needing the extra up top (good part about E85 is with that sized turbo it would spool harder again and really smack you in the head)

Yeah Ill most likely stick to the GT3582... that is depending on its condition. John at precision turbos did mention those other options. But the decider will be if he feels the 82 is fit enough.

Im doing springs and a few other supporting mods just to be sure...

I suppose we all want our cake and it it.. theres always a compromise I guess

Anyway..enough hogging Bombers thread..and thanks to all for your input..

Maybe its time to start my own

Cheers

Gave the Bendix HD's a good workout today and can finally say I've found a good street pad option - yeah!

They don't have the past 3/4 pedal bite of the A1RM's and are slightly 'spongier' than what the Remsas were under hard braking. However, zero noise, no fade and very minimal dust. They surprisingly are dead when cold though. I'd even say worse than the A1RM's. Couple of stops though and all good. Finally found a good street pad that I'm happy with :)

Now, about that Turbo upgrade :wwww:

Correction 3" inlet - not 3.5:"
