I was told be my mechanic that the head is cracked and may require a new head. It's a FG XR6T and has done 69000kms, is this acceptable for a car like this? Any help would be appreciated. Overheating? Evidence of coolant in the oil? Or did your mechanic just decide its cracked???? 69000k's, what year? Warranty?

Started running rough a few weeks ago, he tried plugs and coils and eventually ended up with this diagnosis. Car was log book serviced and treated well I thought. How would that even happen?? The chamber would need to get smaller somehow?

Never overheated, until after the roughness started because I lost coolant. Edited 29/01/16 08:09 AM by Titanovski

I am yet to work out what it is exactly. Remember these engines are producing max torque from 2500rpm so there is a fair bit of air flow happening at lower rpm. I have changed the intake muffler to a delete kit and the stock air box to a herrod intake and the noise is still there. I am assuming it is somethig to do with the design of the plastic crossover pipe. Happened in my car since I bought it new. It is a lot more noticable for the first few k's I drive even though I warm it up before leaving. Edited 05/02/16 09:28 AM by FGMKII
