^^^ I believe that there is a reservoir in the engine bay(next to the Brake master cylinder) which allows you to top it up with Brake Fluid(???? are they serious about this  ????).

I am assuming this is where you monitor your Transmission fluid. Keep in mind that my sedan is a manual and I am not sure if they have the same thing in an auto.

Is this right?

Air leak? Maybe the pipes need to be tightened (and close up once warm)

Re: the AM radio - have the windows been tinted? Isn't the antenna in the rear window? I've heard some tints can cause issues

I just purchased a couple of weeks ago after being a V8 Expensive Daewoo person for the past 10 years, a 2014 FG MK 11 Falcon XR6 Turbo sedan with 20,000 Klms, I had it in today for a couple of warranty issues, I had very poor radio reception with no AM radio. Which they are ordering a new aerial which Ford believes is the problem not really fussed about that but my second issue Ford couldn't find or hear the problem (Surprise Surprise) that concerned me a little, as I have driven other XR6 turbo's and never heard the below sound.

First thing in the morning when the car is cold I drive down the road and hear this faint siren like sound which increase in pitch as the revs increase, best way I can describe the sound is like a police siren far in the distance or when a fire station sounds it's alarm and the pitch goes higher as it gets louder. This happens even between 1500-2500 revs so not even on boost, hopefully people can understand what I am describing. Once the car warms up the sound goes away.

Has anyone experienced this, as I am new to the Turbo world and I thought maybe someone else has experienced this at some stage and give me an idea what it could possibly be.

I posted a reply to this but since the forum has changed over it seems to have been lost.

My car has always done this and more so when it is cold. I can only assume it is the design of the crossover pipe or the 90 degree bend off the turbo that makes this noise. I'm pretty sure it isn't an air leak as my car performs fine and makes the noise. I even changed the intake and air muffler delete pipe and it still does it. Sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Normal noise. You will probably find it increases under load, not necessarily revs.

Sure it's not coming from the radio/speakers? I'll occasionally hear a whirring sound which is coming from my speakers due to what I imagine is poor grounding somewhere.

That was my first thought and had the alternator and battery replaced but it's still doing it lol

The cruise tends to work fine when I charge the battery but tends not to work as the battery condition falls

Might just be a co-incidence and not related to the electrical system at all? Mine would work fine 10 minutes after startup, but then just not set. My issue was with the wiring. Disconnect the battery, remove the horn pad and air bag which will reveal the looms for the steering wheel switches. Give them a good spray with electrical contact cleaner and see if that fixed your issue.

My 2012 XR6T is the recipient of a brand new turbo under warranty today at 21,080km's. Apparently the second one the dealer has seen where bearing play on the turbine shaft has resulted in significant turbine whine. 2 months until warranty period ends.

Getting mine done this week at ~27,500Km for a 2014 FG MK2.

Had a timing cover reseal at ~18,500Km , and also replaced the factory battery as it was failing (it made it to 15 months).

Been a couple of other minor annoyances (break squeak & stereo hiss) which have been fobbed off by Ford as normal. Had my local mechanic machine the break discs and still looking for a good auto electrician...

10 months of factory warranty left to go so keeping a good eye out now...

I have superpro polyelast bushes. They were just under $400 delivered.

I haven't done much driving on them, about 500km, but so far I'm happy.

I bought a diff bush tool for a tad under $500 delivered and fitted them myself.

I guess you could buy the tool and shout a friend lunch or you can pay a shop the 6 hours recommended fitting time. (or in my case have the local mechanic turn the job down lol)

For the cost of fitting aftermarket diff bushes you should look into the twin diff bush diff hat option.

It is around $1500 drive in, drive out.

If you plan to make a lot of power or drag race your car then it is definitely worth considering. Even if you own your car for the next 10 years, it certainly could be worth the cost of replacing the original design 2 or 3 times.
