I've just picked up a new set of valve springs, but before I fit them, I was wondering if I can do it with a normal valve spring compressor? (The type that hooks under the spring and you turn the head to compress the spring). Before anyone asks, I haven't had the rocker cover off yet to see how much room there is or what tool I can use. I thought it better to ask before pulling bits off the car. Obviously I want to do the job without taking the head off the car. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm located in Melbourne and have good mechanical background, have done a few spring replacements on toyotas. I was hoping to use one of the tools we have at my workshop. I really can't be bothered buying a tool for a once off job. Although I'd be happy to borrow/lease one for a day?
