Dropped my car off for a service this morning and was chatting with the mechanic and he reckons you can use the V8 gearbox behind a 6, you just need an adaptor plate for the bellhousing and a different input shaft. He didn't enlighten me as to where these items can be purchased though. Anybody else heard this? Maybe Dellow, Mal Wood or Castlemaine Rod Shop could make up these parts?

Falchoon,

l have seen it posted on FF several times that the XR8 box is tool long to go behind the 6, and that it has an integral bellhousing also. l guess it could be done, l wonder how many $$?

XR8 gearbox in the 6 would be great, but what would be the implications on the Diff and Tailshaft ??

Would these need to be replaced also ?

Well for anybody who wants an XR8 (Tremec TR3650) gearbox let me know and I'll sell you my piece of crap one out of the T3.

If you seriously want to put a different box in the XR6 then the T56 is the only way to go - see Mal Woods website for details.
