hay guys reporting back!!!!

I opted it was a bad idea to purchase this car.thought id sit back and save abit more cash...and TBH having that much power scares the sh*t out of me. I mean im by no means a terrible driver. or a real hoon driver. But I do like to stick the boot in every now and then and I have very little experience in controlling a car going sideways ( the last time I did it I crashed by car and ever since I dont mess with wet weather). The sheer idea of these things sliding out on me by simply applying the accelerator has got me really thinknig. ATM in my EF in the wet I can drop the clutch and take off, get massive wheelspin and the rear end starts to kick out to the side, gets worse if I shift to second...but after not 2 much longer it will just kind of gain traction and kick in and just go straight>scary stuff is over!

I understand that these cars will take getting used to, im assuming everyone has had their scray moments when they first bought their XR6T or purchased more power :). But I guess the process to take is to gradually step it up, learn how the car reacts and start at the lower end of the scale before we go higher. The last thing I want to do is to hurt someone else, myself or to write the thing off simply because I was being a retard!

I was just recenetly approved the last little bit of finance to make my purchase on one of these cars and gonna be going after one with 300+rwkw.Im sure that will supplement me enough. Although the car has that much power I generally want it as a family car( in the near future) and for towing the boat.

One question that ive been trying to answer and to encorporate into my buget is the cost of upkeep for these cars. Im budgeting an "Official" service cost of $300 per 5000km which would equate to around 4 times a year for me. Of course I am going to be putting money away each week for danger money in case something goes pop. Ive heard the bushes are one of the first thigns to go on BF's. Is their any other problems/expenses I should be looking at service wise?

tyres? I try to look at worst case scenario, 1.5 sets a year...at $300 per tyre...im hoping! does this sound about right? thanks

bf are pretty reliable from what iv seen. if its a manual with that power u will be wanting a stronger clutch but the autos seem to handle it fine. tyres all depend on what size wheels really. but if it has been done up well and a good tune you shouldnt really have trouble with things going pop. diff bushes are a major flaw though. but do your self a favour, servicing by ford dealerships is a big waste of money, just find youre self a good mechanic at a small independent garage and supply the oil and filters its much cheaper and from my experience everywhere seems to have better mechanics than ford, but mabey that's just dealerships iv dealt with.

300rwkw on road is ok in a manual, more usable in an auto , 400 would be great and my next goal as 300rwkw doesnt go as hard as I'd like ! :D

as for tyres, 2700 bucks ?? mad ???

800-1000 for a set is more than enough. you'll only need to change out rears more often with more power !

I was a bit disappointed to read the end of this story. I didn't get to see what mods the car had but it seems it had all the right ones and a de-tune would have given the right result. I was led to believe there were no around town running problems with these cars no matter what power they run (within reason and without cams) and that was one of their great advantages over a worked NA motor.

I guess the engine could have been over-pushed though. No telling how long it's life will be.
