been in the market for a typhoon over the past month and it seems most of them are interstate!!!

finally found one in SA that ticks most of the boxes before I check it out but ive got some queries first.

My intial plan was do by a stock or modified one with around 300-350rwkw....

I have litterally been researching these cars for the past 2 years as the day I turned 18 I set myself a goal to own one of this machines asap!

all I ever here is the ability for this car to lose traction and just spin the wheels...at stock power... let alone at 300kw.

now the real problem...( or is it) this particular car that has presented itself to me has over 450rwkw on a street tune at pump fuel..

this extra 100+kw ...wat does it mean?? is this thing just an accident waiting to happen on the street??? are the maintenance costs going to skyrocket???

is this thing going to lose traction at the single thought of giving it a little bit of power...im coming out of a close to standard 4lE series...the last thing I need is for this thing to tear a hole in the ass because I wasnt prepared for the power delivery.

I really would prefer not to have the extra 100+kw on the car but the opportunity has come and I must consider!!!!

Seriously, if your not experienced steer clear! Or buy it and have it tuned to 300 for 12months, and gradually step it up. 450 is no traction under 120, it'll have you doing 100-> 300kmh before you know it. About 20-25 seconds of wot.

300 is quick on the street, 350 is really where you want a street car, even there be prepared to catch it quickly as traction at either of These levels isn't great.

Agree with Henz, have it detuned for a while till u get used to it.. Stepping in a 300kw car at 18 is bad enough let alone 450.. I'd recommend doing one of those driver training days too.. not just cause your getting a powerful car, the course would be good even if you drove a corolla..

Detune... Then pump up when you are used to it... 350 is stupid power on the street.. 450 is f*cking crazy! LOL

More details about the car...

Anything over 400 if it hasnt been done properly will be a continuous headache, and unless you're a very well paid 18YO you wont be able to afford the up-keep and the costs associated in the event something goes wrong.

Have you had insurance quotes?

Most has been said already.. 450 for someone that's jumped out of a 90rwkw car is asking for trouble.. Everyone that gets a new car pushes it to see how it goes.. I was good at going sideways in my vlt then tried when I got the XR and nearly ended up in a bus stop.. If your ego is like 90% of 18yo these days then I'll just get a standard car if I where you.. No offense but you get kids these days getting there parents to buy what they want and end up wrapping them selfs because they wanna be heros infront of there mates.. Food for thought

Mate steer clear, this car is well beyond your experience and probably skill. You need to consider insurance (that you won't get) and the fact that these things with this power output will get you into all sorts of legal problems. This sort of power in the wrong hands is lethal to you and others. Cheers

Loving the stereotypical comments.

He was 18 two years ago. The fact that the OP has looked at this as a potential problem says to me that he's at least looking at things realistically and could actually be a better driver than all of us so don't be so quick to judge.
