Hi all,

I have recently purchase an XR6T and I am finding that it is running very hot .

Even more so when you are in either slow traffic or sitting at the traffic lights. The temp seems to climb very quickly and the fans can't seem to keep up.

Has anyone else noticed problems like this?

And by the way yes I have it booked in to be checked.

Cheers

Chris

What's your definition of hot mate, where's the temp gauge running at?

What sort of weather are you driving in when it gets hot? What part of Australia are you in?

Mines never risen above just under half on the guague even in peakhour traffic with a/c on. Some cars have a problem with dodgy o ring in the water pump that lets the coolant leak out, maybe this is happening to you?

I'd be checking water level so as I don't get stranded. 24hr road side assist, big deal, getting stranded on raodside with swmbo VERY BIG DEAL.

My temp guage hovers just under half way. Only seen it hit halfway once and that was after some very spirited driving in hot weather and it only stayed there for a few minutes, then went to the usual spot.

Normal running temp is just below half way.

tockly>> Mine started behaving like this a few months ago. As I disovered later, it was slowly dropping coolant from the water pump. Eventually got the temp all the way over to the right, and it was time to take it in for a new O ring on the water pump.

if the engine has no coolant in it you will not get stranded! these things have the failsafe cooling system on them that works very effectively! you can travel for miles and miles! I found a new BA fairmont the other day that had done 7k and had never had the engine fans connected from being built! amazing what can be wrong!

yes harasn the limp home will get you out of trouble. Was in a work mates car last week & its guage went nutty, warning buzzer going off. Car went into limp mode, stopped a couple of times, went slowly, eractically, but did get us to the dealership eventually.

I was stating that if this happened that my swmbo would heap more sh*te on me than even you lot would be able. I think she likes making me feel miserable.
