A ground loop isolator should solve your problem. They look like the unit posted above.

There's no whine whatsoever with my iPhone and the Ford AUX kit.

Tried an earth on the alternator body to the battery, and an extra one off the battery to the chassis, didn't help.

In my case, I'm getting horrible noise even without the engine running, just on accessory so the aux kit powers up.

If I touch the silver/metallic back cover of the iPod it makes scratching type noises (loud) and a constant whirring/whine sound without touching it.

Other things I tried don't make the scratching sound, but still the whirring/whine. Must have something to do with the iPod's metal rear cover.

All of the stuff works fine with my headphones and home theater. Must be a bad earth somewhere, just unsure where!

CD's and radio sound perfect!

Only thing done to my car is gauges installed, I doubt they'd interfere with the electrics that much, they're powered off cigarette lighter/traction control anyway, and work fine. Also its ex police so who knows what they've done, have seen a few wires around taillights etc that have been spliced into.

I have the same problem with the Ute, when I listen to the Ipod I get that annoying whinging noise. works perfectly on the Radio and CD it only seems to happen with the AUX/Ipod link. I was going to see Ford and see if they can replace under warranty... any suggestions?

I ended up selling mine and buying a $5 fm transmitter, has less nose than the asl kit, however its not plugged into the car for power either.

Adding earths, ground loop isolators and power filters didn't help me.

I did notice if I put my finger in the one spot on the ipod it'd stop, move my finger around and get the scratchy noise.

Other audio devices without metal casings, touching it wouldn't affect the whine noise at all it's just be constant.
