DATE:Sunday 28 Aug 2011

DESCRIPTION:

This cruise was put together by Adam so thanks mate cos it looks a doozy  Departing BP Wallan after a early morning coffee, we cruise up in a leisurely line up the Hume Freeway til we reach Glenrowan BP for a quick toilet break and 98 RON top up. Then shortly after leaving the BP we take an off ramp to head to Oxley (pls note Rudiger mate :roflmbo: ) then onto the start of the Targa High Country leg at Whitfield. You'll understand why Targa chose this as one of their legs when you drive it - enough said :buttrock: Then it's into Mansfield where we have a sit down for lunch and a chin wag. After a hearty lunch, it's off again towards Eildon but taking the back south road - according to those who have driven it -it's pure twisties porn :yahoo: Regroup in Eildon for a photo opp near the dam wall (Dillz mate  ) and after a quick coffee and farewells - those heading to West of Melbourne could go via Yea to Hume Freeway and those heading to South East Melbourne could head south via the Black Spur.

All up actual route is about 345km from meet point to Eildon. We should end up in Eildon about 3pm then however long it takes you to get home from there. All on sealed roads.

MEET:

Depart 8am Wallan BP on Hume Freeway

RULES:

2. There is a designated cruise leader who will lead the way and set the correct pace for all cruise members.

3. Use the Buddy system - always make sure you can see the car behind you. This will give people behind you an indication on where to turn to make sure nobody gets lost.

4. CB Radios - if you don't have one, follow the maps and directions given out. It is highly recommended to have CB as it enhances the enjoyment of the cruise being able to hear about road hazards and join in on the social chatter.

5. Please turn up to the meeting points with a sufficient fuel in your tank and enough time before the departure time.

6. Onus is on the owner/driver to ensure their vehicle is safe to drive on public roads and meets State road traffic authority laws.

7. Please ensure you have a contingency plan if you have a breakdown or unnecessarily delayed. e.g. Roadside Assistance or a mate in another car who is willing to stay with you if necessary.

That way is ok for those people that live out that side of Melbourne. Not so good if you're from the northern or western suburbs.

We'll I'd suggest we all pull up in Eildon for a quick cuppa and farewells then we can split into 2 different groups - those that want to go home via Black Spur and those that want to go home via Yea :beerchug:

I'm okay for Sunday 28 August - Adam and I were discussing a 8am start at Wallan BP - thought I'd warn you ahead of time so you could get your beauty sleep lads :roflmbo:

It's pretty much all over after Eildon, so people can take which ever way home they please.

Just got home from the reccy lap of the route and I think it's a cracker! Rained the entire way, but that wasn't a problem. Still dry inside the car.
