Hi guys,

I recently got my car serviced at XFT and asked them to check my suspension and what not as I hear a knocking sound going up/down bumps.

They've told me my rear diff bushes were cracked and needed to be replaced, and gave me a quote.

Done a bit of research and my mate said he'll help me do it to save a bit of cash and get some experience on the mechanical side of things (I'm pretty much completely new to mechanics, but installed my BOV myself, felt pretty proud but that's as far as I've gone haha).

Now, on FF, there is a thread which details how to do the replacement here, but there are 2 parts listed: 49159 and 49171. They noted that 49171 was for BF's and 49159 was for BA's

While doing a quick search to see where I could buy them online, I came across these 2 links:

49159

49171

They have 49171 down as just FG, and 49159 as BA-BF.

Just wondering which is the correct part to use?

Cheers

What model is your car....?

Assuming its a B Series

I would use a super pro SPF2654-70K for the rear bush and a SPF3148AK for the front mounts. Dont bother only replacing the rear bush as you will have dramas again soon if the fronts are worn.

I have these in my car and they are spot on. About to fit a set to another members car in the very near future. The K is the "komfort" option. They reduce NVH compared to the original bushes.

Make sure you take note of the install depth of the front bushes. If you dont install the new bushes at the same depth you can have Issues with the front mounts contacting the cradle and knocking.

If/when you install the front did mounting bushes, put them in the frezzer overnight 1st. This will shrink the other shell slightly and make them easier to install!

Senna_T is the Wholesale Suspension Products Guru on here. Pm him for Pricing, otherwise I have a good guy here in Perth.

Oh and that write up is great, but its for a territory not a sedan. You'l be dropping the whole arse end out to replace the bushes. Not pleasant but highly doable on the floor with a trolley jack :spoton:

haha crap left out the most important part lol.

Yeah it's an 06 BF.

Thanks for that Luke, really helpful.

It has the SPF3148AK down as rear on that site, is that definitely the correct part? (if by front mount you mean something else that's located in the rear I apologise, not familiar with all the terms yet :P)

What would I be looking at paying for these in a ballpark figure? I'll PM Senna_T now though (and might grab the Perth contact from you as well if I can)

Cheers

There are 3 diff mounting bushes mate. The centre rear and two front, (super pro call them the Differential Pinion, Bracket Mount Kit)

Def go for the "K" version. Talk to P@ as he and WSP are longterm supporters of the site. I he doesnt have stock/cant land them here in time let me know :spoton:

I can recommend the "comfort" ones, nice and quiet(well at least to me anyway), still have some thuds but only from massive launch/liftoffs.

That 'how to' article was for a Territory and not a Falcon.

You have no access to the bush in a Falcon unless you drill a hole in your spare tyre well.

*cough*

You good point mate...... :)

Hi guys,

I got 2 quotes, ones from Pedders and ones from Wilkinson Suspension in Bayswater.

Pedders said $880 but they use urethane bushes.

Wilkinson said $944 using the SuperPro bushes.

The price of the parts alone from Wilkinson basically matches the price Pat can do them for me when you have shipping involved (actually I think with shipping it's a few dollars more).

My mates dad had a look and said it's quite a job and he didn't have the tools to do it, so was best to find a specialist to do it for me.

Is there another place anyone could recommend that I have it done?

Wilkinson is actually quite convenient as I get the train from Bayswater every morning for work and it's right on the way there.

Cheers
