Then head off for hills through Gillies Range and a photo opp at the famous Curtain Fig near Yungaburra. Then it's a short distance to our lunch stop in Atherton at The Stump. After a carniverous lunch - cruise across the tablelands with a pitstop at Mt Malloy for a photo opp, then down to Port Douglas for cheeky refreshments. After taking in the views at the marina (and hear seascape's not bad as well ) - head on home towards Cairns taking in sweeping vistas where rainforest meets the reef. Then it's a regroup at Maccas in Smithfield for those with the time for a coffee and bid farewells. Please be aware it looks like incredible twisties on this route - best let any passangers know of potential motion sickness. MEET: Depart 10am Bunnings, 98-114 Fearnley St (corner Spence and Fearnley Sts) Portsmith (Cairns)ROUTE: 250km about 4 hours (but budget for 6 hours to take into account lunch and refreshment breaks)All on sealed roads.BRING:Strongly recommended UHF 40 channel CB Radio to keep across road hazards and general chatter. EvilDaifu has a few CBs for free loan on the cruise if anyone is interested - just PM EvilDaifu to reserve one.Optional GPS so you know where you are, where you been and how to get where you wanna go Camera for the photo opps and the views.Don't forget to bring extra batteries for your CB and camera - something makes me think we'd be chewing through the batteries on this cruise Sunnies RULES:1. Obey all laws whilst on the cruise; this means no speeding, no overtaking over double lines (no matter how safe you think it may be), etc...2. There is a designated cruise leader who will lead the way and set the correct pace for all cruise members.3. Use the Buddy system - always make sure you can see the car behind you. This will give people behind you an indication on where to turn to make sure nobody gets lost.4. CB Radios - if you don't have one, follow the maps and directions given out. It is highly recommended to have CB as it enhances the enjoyment of the cruise being able to hear about road hazards and join in on the social chatter.5. Please turn up to the meeting points with a sufficient fuel in your tank and enough time before the departure time.6. Onus is on the owner/driver to ensure their vehicle is safe to drive on public roads and meets State road traffic authority laws.7. Please ensure you have a contingency plan if you have a breakdown or unnecessarily delayed. e.g. Roadside Assistance or a mate in another car who is willing to stay with you if necessary.8. If you wish to post this cruise up on any other social media site e.g. facebook, myspace, twitter - please obtain permission from the Cruise Controller/Mod organising the cruise first.9. If you are around still when I knock off I will be in for the rest of the cruise down the coast. If you take marks lane & bean tree rd you end up on the otherside of town and will have to come back into atherton if you want lunch here.

Yungaburra pub - do up ok feeds, a bit close and we are already stopping at the fig tree and atherton Stump - Never been there but haven't heard any bad thingsBV - Good prices on massive steaks . . . problem is I'm getting my 2 front teeth crowned a couple days later and the temp caps on now wouldn't handle a 700g rump.Photo oppsBunnings carparkfig tree carpark - unsure of lighting but I'm no camera guruMt MolloyPort douglas marina, alongside the steam train railway line.
