In what?

Audi - pretty sure it was AWD too, quattro to be fancy. Why did ze Germans choose and Italian word?

The 7 speed with flappy paddles was DSG and not a zf auto I think, but was supercharged . . . . and still not quicker than a T to 100 :(

I'm keen to drive my mates new Polo GTI, twincharged (turbo+SC) flappy paddle 7 speed DSG.

But yeah, still not quicker than my car to 100...even when stock :)

got one of these on order for the mrs.

of course its not as quick as a T but for a shopping trolley it doesnt go too badly at all.

130+kw and 1100kg is a good combination!

But seriously how can you have too may gears (provided it can skip gears on down-changes)?

Cause no matter how quick shifts are that's still lost time.

It's purely fuel economy isn't it? Which is pretty silly in these cars. The upgraded power figures are good though.

I wish I could afford a nice small daily like the Polo GTI. Under 30k new which isn't bad value I reckon. Can only just afford the T...can't wait to pay the thing off finally... less than 2 years left now.

Then I can stick an 8 speed in it and cruise at <1000RPM on the freeway! Hahaha.

Brothers mrs bought a Polo GTi (massive wait getting it) - goes OK yes, great quality yes, but watching grass grow is more exciting.

Hence 30k sounds good value, but a crap 15k Hyundai does 95% the same job (tiny shopping trolley) and neither are fast or attractive cars anyway.

I'm with Dillz/Luxjet, reckon 8 speed is overkill especially for a turbo engine (rather than high revving Hondas/Mazdas etc which could benefit), but that's just my opinion! :blind:

the one I took for a fang was an extra 100k on the polo, an came with a lot more calling me sir from the salesman :P poor fool, like I would trade the palcon in for something slower in a straight line

got to admit, the rev matching on down shifts was porn

Who me - Never :senile:

Audi roadshow was in town for the day, local dentist in my home town has 3 audi's and had just upgraded his rs4 for an r8. Dropped his name and started chatting, I had google researched the cars the night before so I knew all the features he would try to plug (that's new on this model right? oh I see they have changed the dash this year . . . etc). Sales bloke asked what I do for work, as soon an I mentioned the mines I was referred to as sir and given the pick of the showroom.

Didn't tell him that the current job pays 1/3 of what I was on at the start of the year and that the car he gave me the keys to was double my base salary. But turn up in a ute with a flashing light and a flag on it and they think you'll pay cash and tick every option box.

Can't wait til HSV drive day - same sh*t different pigeons, then get out and say "bloody nice note on it, but she's a bit slow mate" :sungum:
