Hi guys,

I just bough an FG F6 with 50,000kms on the clock. The car has a few weeks of warranty left, so I want to go over it with a fine tooth comb.

What should I look for?

At this stage I have found that:

a) The diff makes funny noises, as if it is moving around, and not fixed in its place - Bushes?

b) When taking off, occasionally I hear a funny noise for a short while which seems to come from the tailshaft, (in between front seats), like rocks shaking in a wooden box? - Related to above?

c) No AM reception at all on the stereo - Some loose connectors?

What else should I check? How much does it cost to get extended warranty for 12 months, and is this worth it?

Cheers, Jake.

hey mate,

did the same thing before my warranty expired. I was reccomend booking the car in with ford ASAP, it is nice to have a few weels up your sleeve, just incase they try to give you the run around.

Get your caar cheked out by a professional (other than Ford)that you can trust for an honest opinion on what needs to be fixed before warratny is out.

Here is soem stuff I got replaced on my BF, know power steering punmp seems to be a common issue.

o Power steering pump leaking, had this fixed on two BF’s

o Timing cover seals leaks

o Movement in front suspension L/H lower ball joint movement, replace ball joint

o Exhaust resonator split at rear

o Radio – when on FM turn on rear demister radio crackles, looses signal is unusable

o Interior - Silver inserts on door handle/arm bubbling on left and right front door.

o Window auto stopped working

o Replaced belt pulley due to rooted bearing making loud noises

o Front rotors need to be machined

I will be doing the same as oldskool. Probably take it to racq and get it checked over before it runs out

I've had good experiences with Coffey ford in Hallam. But as per the others get it checked by someone else first-

Pit lane would be my first choice if they have time. All of the guys there are very helpful.

Thanks guys for the tips.

The car is booked into Pitlane for a thorough look over, and then will be going in for service and any warranty work after that.

Jake.
